2 White House Officials Helped Give Nunes Intelligence Reports
New York Slimes ^ | March 30, 2017 | MATTHEW ROSENBERG, MAGGIE HABERMAN and ADAM GOLDMAN

A pair of White House officials played a role in providing Representative Devin Nunes of California, a Republican and the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, with the intelligence reports that showed that President Trump and his associates were incidentally swept up in foreign surveillance by American spy agencies.

The revelation that White House officials assisted in the disclosure of the intelligence reports — which Mr. Nunes then discussed with President Trump — is likely to fuel criticism that the intelligence chairman has been too eager to do the bidding of the Trump administration while his committee is supposed to be conducting an independent investigation of Russia’s meddling in the last presidential election.

Mr. Nunes has also been faulted by his congressional colleagues for sharing the information with President Trump before consulting with other members of the intelligence committee.

The congressman has refused to identify his sources, saying he needed to protect them so others would feel safe coming to the committee with sensitive information. He disclosed the existence of the intelligence reports on March 22, and in his public comments he has described his sources as whistle-blowers trying to expose wrongdoing at great risk to themselves.

At least the NYT names a couple of possible suspects.

“Suspects”? They did nothing wrong.

Now I want to know who those people were on “The Hill” with whom Evelyn Farkas was exchanging information on the Trump campaign. I’m willing to be they were ALL Democrats and that most were not cleared to see the information she shared with them.

Seems like there’s an unwritten rule that the incoming administration can’t reveal maleficence by the previous administration.

I guess that explains Trump’s most recent tweet:

“The failing @nytimes has disgraced the media world. Gotten me wrong for two solid years. Change libel laws?”

I'm pretty cynical, but I really don't understand why this is an issue. The media wish it weren't true, but the President and White House staff head the executive branch of the government. Why is it wrong that Nunes saw these documents there?

To me the real story is that the Director of the FBI and the former Director of National Intelligence mislead if not lied to Congress when they denied any surveillance of Trump campaign officials. And Nunes revealed the lie.

Suspects??? Cleared individuals invited a cleared individual with a need to know to view classified material in a classified facility. What is the crime?

They had better not have put these two people in danger. If anything happens to them the entire NYT staff should be put in prison

Nunes did nothing wrong. Neither did these “leakers.” They didn’t even leak anything. They just told Nunes where to find something he had every right — and all required clearances — to see.

Exactly. The Suspects of known crimes in this investigation all fed information to the New York Times and other anti-Trump administration partisans.

It's possible there was an original whistle blower who approached Nunes and informed him. The source told Nunes he could confirm the information accessing it through the National Security Council's data window at the White House. But Nunes needed assistance from two NSC staffers locating it.

Seems like there’s an unwritten rule that the incoming Republican administration can’t reveal maleficence by the previous Democratic administration.

There, fixed it.

No, let’s not determine what the facts are. Let’s just see who can scream loudest about who is doing whose bidding for the benefit of whom. I guess once God [principle, like truth and divine justice] is Dead, the rest just doesn’t matter.
