The centrist Tuesday Group affirmed at a meeting Wednesday that it will not meet with the conservative House Freedom Caucus to negotiate changes to an ObamaCare replacement bill, according to Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.).
I am not speaking for the White House; I'm not speaking for the Speaker; but I will speak for the Tuesday Group, Collins, a member of the group, told reporters. We have never negotiated with the Freedom Caucus. There was never a meeting scheduled with the Freedom Caucus. We will never meet with the Freedom Caucus, because it's not appropriate for a group of ad hoc members.
It's not regular order, that's not our role, Collins added. He said the regular healthcare committees should handle the issue.
He said the Tuesday Group had a meeting on Wednesday and he can state unequivocally that other members of the group agree they should not meet with the Freedom Caucus.
It was just reiterated that next time one of those calls comes in [from the Freedom Caucus], just hang up, Collins said of the Tuesday Group meeting. Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), chairman of the Freedom Caucus, said Wednesday afternoon that he is open to setting up a meeting with the Tuesday Group, but so far had only spoken with Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-N.J.), the groups co-chairman.
Collins said he thinks the Freedom Caucus is just trying to shift blame for the repeal bills failure last week by talking about such a meeting.
I think the Freedom Caucus is simply trying to shift the blame for this bill going down to someone else, and the thought that they could say, Oh, we're willing to meet and negotiate with the Tuesday Group, is absurd on its face, Collins said.

Koch Brothers bad, Club for Growth bad, Socialism is great as long as our guys are the ones in charge!!!!!!
Did I click on the wrong forum???
There is nothing altruistic about it; it is all stupid, justified by the neurotic rationalizations of egalitarian collectivists, who will destroy anything rather than accept the fact that we are all different, with different needs and different responses to all the vast array of human interactions.
“He said the Tuesday Group had a meeting on Wednesday.”
These dumb asses don’t even know what day it is and we’re supposed to try to work with them?
Doesn’t sound very “centrist” to throw a temper-tantrum and refuse to meet.
The Freedom Caucus is occasionally too much of a purist group, but in this case, they were correct and have great ideas.
Centrist Tuesday group = Progressive bastards!
“Translation - the Tuesday Group is fine with Obamacare, doesnt want to make any changes.”
You are correct. The FC are not the bad guys here.
They are the Spartans standing in the breech.
And here I thought the members of the Freedom Caucus were the recalcitrant ones...
Will someone tell me again why the Freedom Caucus supported Ryan for Speaker? They knew he wasn’t a conservative.
You're kidding right? When has the stupid party ever been united? We don't have a party caucus dedicated to advancing an agenda. That's what the democrats have. We have 230-240 prima donnas preening before their voters.
Koch Bros. (Club for Growth, Americans for Prosperity, etc.) are not at all on the same page as Freedom Caucus but both groups have disdain Ryancare.
Koch, et al are Libertarian in philosophy (some used to call themselves "fiscal conservatives" but could care less about pro-life issues, biblical marriage, and lean toward lax or no anti-drug laws, legal prostitution, etc.) but encourage open borders, whereas Freedom Caucus want borders closed, illegals sent packing and employers punished for knowingly hiring illegals or looking the other way.
You could say some of the largest GOP RINOs fit the Tuesday group to a tee.
The all voted to repeal Obamacare when they were assured their aye votes on repeal and replace, were slop to their hometown rubes, to continue getting reelected and funds to live as they "deserve," far from their hometown riffraff.
Should have gotten everyone on record with an actual vote. Now everyone gets to pretend
>Should have gotten everyone on record with an actual vote. Now everyone gets to pretend
Yep.
TEAM....... TEAM....... go behind closed doors. Get er done. Come on Donald.... get them in the room, buy some beer and pizza and don't unlock it till we have a GREAT plan for healthcare. Ryan wants to leave ocare alone.
Check out Rodney Frelinghuysen from lefty New Jersey. HE took about 17 - 18 guys at last minute last Friday before the vote and pulled them away to vote NO. Ryan should have HAD the vote or at least made everyone say which way. The FC did NOT cause the biggest backlash.
ugh. What an embarrassment for the GOP. Nice work, Ryan. NOT.
Socialism is the status quo. Everyone acts like doing nothing prevented socialism...it did not
This Tuesday Group of RINOs were abandoning Ryancare in greater numbers than the Freedom Caucus.
Blame them.
Agree!!
This Tuesday Group of RINOs began abandoning RyanCare/0CareII once the sound minded Freedom Caucus insisted on items that Trump had campaigned on, be put in to the bill...such as remove the mandate, sell ins across state lines, require price transparency from ins providers, etc, etc.
I have not even scrolled down yet but I just know there will be plenty of “conservatives” siding with the squishy, moderate RINOs who want to preserve socialized health care.
Knowing he is antisemitic why would you even post a link to him ?
In defense of the Tuesday Group, I believe most of them represent districts that Trump lost in 2016. They have a tough time dealing with their political situations at home.
Club for Growth/Koch Bros are getting their moneys worth with this Freedom Cuck-us scam.
Why would you say this?
Do you have campaign documents indicating that they were funded this past election cycle by Club for Growth?
The majority of Freedom Caucus supported Trump for President...
The Tuesday group is the progressive liberal wing of Republican party. They are Democrats for all intents and purposes. For your and others’ information: (as per Wikipedia)
It was founded in 1994 in the wake of the Republican takeover of the House. The Republican House caucus was dominated by conservative Republicans and the Tuesday Group was founded to counterbalance that conservative trend. There were approximately 40 members when it was founded.[2] In 2007 the Tuesday Group founded its own political action committee (PAC).[3]
The co-chairs of the Tuesday Group were Charlie Dent, Robert Dold, and Adam Kinzinger from 20152017,[1] and currently Dent, Tom MacArthur and Elise Stefanik from 2017.[4]
Former co-chairs include Charlie Bass, Mike Castle, Jo Ann Emerson, Mark Kirk, and Fred Upton.[2][5] Members have included Judy Biggert, Sherwood Boehlert, Tom Davis, Mike Fitzpatrick, Mark Foley, Jim Gerlach, Nancy Johnson, Sue Kelly, Jim Kolbe, Ray LaHood, Leonard Lance, Jim Leach, John McKernan, Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Bob Michel, Todd Platts, Jim Ramstad, Dave Reichert, Joe Schwarz, Chris Shays, Rob Simmons, Olympia Snowe, James Walsh, and Heather Wilson[2][3][6]
This group should be on the GOP wall of shame, and I don’t know how Trump, the “Clean the Swamp” candidate can be so eager to do business with them versus the Freedom Caucus.
I have no problem with Koch brothers providing funds for primary elections if Trump and RINO/GOPe end up primarying them. Again, majority of them supported Trump by the end of the campaign, and many at the beginning.
