Gunfire rang out Monday afternoon in a home in Broken Arrow, an Oklahoma city 15 miles southeast of Tulsa. Three intruders were killed after the son of the homeowner fired a semiautomatic rifle in what local law enforcement officers later described as an act of self-defense, though their investigation remains open.

Upon making entry to the home one of the residents fired a rifle striking all three of the suspects, the sheriffs office statement said.
Two of the intruders died inside the kitchen. The other was able to run to the driveway before succumbing to his injuries, the statement said.
‘sniff’ I love a happy ending.....
Be very careful about breaking into any home in Oklahoma. Everyone I know has at least 3 weapons.
Hmm. If this were fiction...
Well anyway. The getaway driver is in a good position to twist the story to the disadvantage of the home defender.
What you want to bet the homeowner gets sued by the families of the deceased?..........................
This is an honest question, with no hidden agenda...
I have, I think, a fairly good notion of how Catholic teaching would respond to the issue raised by this incident, and also how traditional Protestant teaching (as opposed to postmodern liberal pseudo-Protestants like the ELCA and the PCUSA) would respond.
What does Orthodox teaching say? It is acceptable in God’s eyes to kill three intruders, or is it considered an unjust use of force? Again, no hidden agenda here, but since you tend to post the bulk of Orthodox-related posts and I don’t know the answer, I thought I would ask, and thank you in advance.
Yutes?
Kicking in the back door and getting shot to death in the kitchen is very difficult to twist...................
An AR will clean out a whole bevy of housebreaking burglars.
There will be no trial for this fine young marksman. In OK or TX, home invaders are asking to be killed.
“How many bullets does one need to kill a Deer?”
>>Thou shalt not bring a knife to a gunfight.<<
Brass knuckles are not a great backup plan either.
Note: I love a happy ending. 3 fewer thugs and 1 person still here to feel the weight of the law.
Depends if the Deer is Armed with a Knife and brass knuckles...
Imagine how many future crimes now will never happen thanks to these three being dispatched.
A public service was performed, if you ask me.
In Oklahoma? Good luck with suing in this instance. An Oklahoma jury will have a higher unstated burden of proof: “Did these guys deserve it?” In Oklahoma, the answer will be yes, even if the families put crying grandmothers on the stand saying what good “kids” these were.
Don’t even think about coming up the driveway without an invite here in North Idaho.
Glad his aim was good and no neighbors were shot.
Those rounds travel a long way.
Members of the Dindu tribe?
All of this is dependent upon the homeowner truly being in fear of his life. That is critical to justifiable homicide. Or, any self-defense shooting.
Depends if the Deer is Armed with a Knife and brass knuckles..........And has two buddies with him.
