Trump has Already Effectively Repealed Obamacare (Dick Morris)
Facebook ^ | Dick Morris

Posted on 03/27/2017 8:26:37 PM PDT by LS

Dick Morris says what I have said for a couple of weeks. Obamacare really has been killed, and no one noticed.

Trump told the IRS not to enforce the "individual mandate." That is the essential coercive element. No mandate, no O-care. Morris said he did this last week---in fact, I heard more than four weeks ago that the IRS was NOT enforcing this and just assumed it came from Trump.

Second, the requirement that you buy from an "approved" insurance company---Trump waived that as well by telling HHS to approve any policy as "qualifying."

Yes, some of the subsidies and other crap remains, but the individual mandate---which the USSC upheld---is gone and so is the other coercive mechanism.

And nobody noticed.

Depends what the ins cos do about it. They could help take this country on the right path by just deciding to offer low cost catastrophic plans, selling in all states, etc. We could just slide in the correct direction despite the fedgov.

Unless the Dems get back in and make the penalties retroactive. This is why we MUST win the midterm elections with a wide enough margin of Nationalist Trump supporters, codify, clean up voter fraud, and deport, deport, and deport. (And pray that McInsane, Linda, etc. assume room temperature! ~LOL)

I remember this too and thinking MAGA kneecaping ACA nice. Many things I think are phony about all this healthcare stuff but how come phase one wasn't Dr. Price doing the stuff they put in phase two all that discretion of the HHS.

This idea no one suffers because we switch from democrat socialism to republican socialism is retarded.

This obamacare seems to be the worse of everything flush it - move on.

One of the big problems about the government in healthcare is once in thats all that is ever argued about. Don't get sick and die in your sleep seems to be the current arrangement.

It was an IRS site (or similar) that I read the EO and their interpretation. I can’t find it right now, and I really don’t care enough keep trying. I will look for it later and If I come upon it again, I will link to what I read.

Yes it’s part of the healthcare insanity with the result being that any American hospital cannot turn away ANYONE in the world who shows up with an emergency or patient in labor.
It was meant to prevent dumping non-paying patients from fancy hospitals to the inner city and such. But instead has become a lever for the illegals and anchor babies. The unintended consequences of this law need to be cleaned up.
Wasn’t Mooschelle Obama’s fake hospital job in Chicago to cherry pick patients, or something illegal like that?

There is much more to obamacare than just that. It has to be repeal in whole.

Of all the terrible things Obamacare has caused this one is particularly egregious to me personally. You and many others are in a place where for some reason there is no competition and only 1 insurance provider. So what Obamacare has essentially done is a mandatory wealth transfer from you and all the people in your community into the hands of that singular provider. It is a law that says "you people over here, give your money to that company over there." You have no choice. No matter how horrible they are, even if they break the law, even if they break the terms of the contract, or single you out for punitive attention, you have no choice. You have no remedy. Your only choice is to hand them your money, or defy the law and pay the penalty, um, tax. I don't know if the USSC did not see this outcome, or if they did why they allowed it. But they have ruled that the government can now force a citizen through coersion to enter into contracts with other private 3rd parties against your will even if they fail to honor the terms of the agreement the government forced you to enter! From here anything is now possible. It must be repealed.

yes you are correct. but are the agencies complying and what is the EO number. website:
https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2017/01/2/executive-order-minimizing-economic-burden-patient-protection-and
Secretary of Health and Human Services (Secretary) and the heads of all other executive departments and agencies (agencies) with authorities and responsibilities under the Act shall exercise all authority and discretion available to them to waive, defer, grant exemptions from, or delay the implementation of any provision or requirement of the Act that would impose a fiscal burden on any State or a cost, fee, tax, penalty, or regulatory burden on individuals, families, healthcare providers, health insurers, patients, recipients of healthcare services, purchasers of health insurance, or makers of medical devices, products, or medications.

Dick Morris and anyone else saying this: Pure bullshit. Obamacare is LOADED with fascist top down controls wrecking our freedoms, and they remain right there abusing us all whether you let a few people off or not.

In fact, if you remove the “mandate” all you do is penalize the actual people buying all the medical care in these USA even MORE by preventing those mandated to buy from having to take part in the mass mess.

It might even be the WORST thing that could be done. They become true freeloaders again because they will in fact be taken care of by our ERs and hospitals and free clinics, right along with the illegal aliens who also can get a ton of care free from the feds, but now these formerly mandated Americans pay nothing.

We need to get rid of the artificial garbage that makes insurance expensive, starting with mandates that everyone pays the same, no matter how much you are messing yourself up, and continuing with making everyone pay for things that everyone always has to get anyway (more like buying food than insurance), like basic preventive care: SOCIALISM in other words:

The result: Get all the free things you want when you are NOT sick, like free $6,500 colonoscopy for WELL people, but that drives up the price of everything, so for SICK people’s coverage such you pay a premium of $13,000 a year to get a plan with deductibles of $6,500, wow, what a deal those Democrat geniuses have made!

Repeal this giant piece of unconstitutional illegal fascism all the way.

There is NOTHING appropriate about only removing the “mandate” — except for placating a small number of people, the crap continues even worse for the rest.

This is great news if it’s true. Do you have any other written confirmation beyond what Dick Morris posted on Facebook? I know that Trump released a very general executive order at the start of his term in office, but it did not explicitly remove the mandate “tax” and could still theoretically allow the IRS to collect the fee. It seems hard to believe that if such a huge change was made to our national healthcare system the media wouldn’t report on it at all—but then again the media keeps surprising me with the extent of their incompetence and partisan irrelevance.

They were the ones who WROTE Obamacare for their own benefit and then they used it as a bank account to buy off corrupt republican and democrat politicians. Obamacare and Ryan care were their way to protect their massive profit scheme structures and maintain quadrupled set of cooked books, to make it all ‘plausible’ and such.

It is clear, the insurance company monopolies must be destroyed along with the state and federal governments that built them... to enrich and entrench themselves in power and wealth.

we didn’t build that...
they did...

This is exactly what needs to be done.

When I was young, there was NO health insurance. You just paid cash, and it wasn’t that much.

Now they created a middle man, INSURANCE COMPANIES, inflate prices, and force people to pay premiums, copays, etc., so that the Insurance Company Middleman can take their cut, out of OUR pocket.

This is why health care is so much less expensive in other countries, and the care is often better.

Absolutely. I personally have no need for Cadillac care that pays for office visits and am on a couple very cheap generic drugs I take only as needed.
So what my $800/mo policy provides for me is only the comfort that I won't go bankrupt from a 6-figure medical bill.
The only current alternative is pay the penalty for no insurance and roll the dice I won't have a major occurrence. Not cool with me.

So you think that the government should be allowed to force people to buy insurance who do not want it so that they can subsidize other people who want cheaper coverage? How conservative of you! Have you always been such a huge government proponent? By the way this “freeloader” without insurance has never failed to pay 100% of my medical bills and resents you trying to steal my money via the IRS just so your bills will be cheaper. After what you wrote, you should be the last person decrying “SOCIALISM”—unless hypocrisy is your thing.

I think conservatives should get most of the blame for those policies. As I pointed out, it was Reagan that signed it into law, with all the easily predictable negative consequences.

Some conservatives seem to want it both ways - they don’t want to come across as heartless, so they pass those laws, but at the same time they don’t want to mandate that all adults carry health insurance.

In other words they want to buy the compassion “halo” at no cost.

In some ways the liberals are more consistent in this regard. They mandated certain coverage but they also mandated that everyone have health insurance to help pay for it.

You might say it’s not constitutional to force people to buy something they don’t want. I agree.

But at the same time, is it constitutional to force a hospital or a doctor to offer services for nothing?

If you mandate one you must mandate the other. And if you get rid of one you must get rid of the other.
