PETER HITCHENS: There's one thing that may stop these 'terror' attacks-but no one wants to know

The more we boast about how calm, tough and united we are, the more we prove it is not so. The official response to Wednesday's events looked like panic and over-reaction to me

Just as in the days after Diana died, we have become a nation of unreasoning weepers, laying flowers, lowering flag and lighting candles, and congratulating ourselves on how wonderful we are, while not thinking at all....

I suspect there is a large minority, perhaps a majority, gritting its teeth and stifling dissent-for fear that a temporary dictatorship of grief will punish them......

...many of these actions are committed by criminal misfits with long histories of theft, petty violence and drug abuse.

The Nice killer, a drunkard and drug-abuser who never went near a mosque was one such. The Berlin truck-driver was an arsonist, thief and bar-brawler. The Westminster killer was another lowlife jailbird, who had been in prison three times for (among other things) stabbing a man in the face...

...A former school friend says he began to go downhill after he started smoking cannabis in his teens.....

...said by some who knew him to have been a bodybuilder, so he may have been taking steroids-these powerful mood-influencing drugs were also used by the Norwegian mass-murderer Anders Brevik, the rampage killer Raoul Moat and the Orlando mass-killer Omar Mateen........

Does the Prime Minister actually think about what she says? On Wednesday, just after noon, she told the House of Commons: "I would like to express my condolences to the family and colleagues of the former Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland, Martin McGuiness."

Standing in the same place less than 24 hours later, she said: "We are not afraid, and our resolve will never waver in the face of terrorism."....

In his Sunday column, Peter Hitchens offers his opinion about drugs, crime and terrorism and how the UK and its government reacted to what happened Thursday.

The first part is about drugs and mass murder including terrorism.

At the end he singles out the hypocrisy of the PM, Theresa May, paying tribute to murdering terrorist Martin McGuiness Wednesday, condemning terrorism 24 hours later.

You tend to notice this from all the arrests or attacks in Germany and France....these are all losers. Guys who were hyped up on drugs for the most part....no real future...no way ahead.

It would be interesting to go back to 9-11....categorize all of the one-thousand odd terrorists, and I suspect that 99-percent would all fit into the loser category.

I think those 9-11 guys who used the lap dancers before their evil deeds were ‘drugging’ themselves with ‘lust’ so to speak.

I don’t generally agree with Hitchens and I disagree with him here as well - except that I, too, am sick of the Keep Calm and Carry On sloganeering. And I agree that all kinds of drugs are fueling these maniacs. But to say that jihad is a small, easily controlled problem? After 7/7 terrorist attack? 9/11? Bataclan? Beslan? Nice? Brussels? Orlando? Sorry, no dice.

I can agree and disagree with Hitchens but the terrorism thing is not ending anytime soon.

I would say one reason is because illegal drugs, alcohol and other ‘drugs’, including those distributed by pharma and prescribed by doctors out there, fuel anger and rage.

Less addiction would be helpful but Hitchens doesn’t like the obsession with ‘addiction’ out there seeing it as going ‘soft’ on drug abuse.

Keep calm... like your pants are on fire.

Meanwhile Islam spreads like an out of control cancer.

All we need to do is send Cher, Rosie, Samuel Jackson, Charlie and Martin Seen, Ashley Judd, and a bunch of other Hollywood weenies to go over and make nice with them.

Change starts in houses and pubs, where small groups gather to talk and seek action.

And then it goes from the villages to the towns, from the towns to the counties.

From the article:

Man...do I ever agree with this. What ever happened to the spine and resolve societies used to show whenever it was necessary to go after the bad guys and kill them. No mercy.

The same weepy, flowery, candle vigil nonsense happens here all the time now. I still hold the very strong opinion that if we had dropped a nuke on Kandahar immediately after September 11, 2001, the world would be a lot safer place today because it would have been lesson learned.

Right. Hitchens is just whistling in the dark. - All the
MUSLIM Jihadists understand is the language spoken by my
Smith & Wesson revolver, Fang’s rifles & crossbow &
shotgun & the rattlesnakes & copperheads in the sinkhole
out front at our place, as well as a huge guard dog who is
prepared to take a huge chunk of meat out of their rear ends
if they ever “Jihad” around here. If they insist on DEATH,
they’ll get it out here, along with HELL, but no dream
“virgins” to give them lap dances - the gullible wonkers.

They kept calm in WWII because the civilian population could do nothing but keep calm and carry on while their valiant armed forces won the day! But when the enemy lives among you, is allowed to gather in Trafalgar Square on a regular basis (and I’ve seen them in action!), you need to do a lot more than carry on. I’ve even seen a dumb sign outside a London shop asking Londoners to keep calm and drink tea. Idiotic.

‘A former school friend says he began to go downhill after he started smoking cannabis in his teens’

IIRC, the terrorist here was 52. LONG downhill slide. The terrorists may be on the fringes of radical Islam......but that fringe appears to be very wide. And I do agree with Hitchens about the ‘tribute’ to McGuinness. I acknowledge the British Government had come to an agreement with him, but he shouldn’t have been recognized in the Parliament. He was a terrorist and a murderer. How can you hold up someone like that for praise? After marrying a British man, I moved to Britain to live. Relatives lived near Brighton and within a few weeks of the terrorist attack on the Grand Hotel, we were down there visiting. Seeing the destruction was an eye opener for this American, having never experienced the aftermath of a terrorist attack in the USA. Glad Mr McGuiness is gone. Period.

Basically, a resistance movement. It’s going to have to happen here as well.

He somehow thinks that is was drugs that made these mussies mass murderers. He is wrong. They use those drugs to cut the inhibition so they can do allah’s will. They are already part of the death cult that is islam

I think you have a point there, but we need to be more honest about the notion that people are ‘drugging’ themselves with ‘substances’ legal and illegal.

My experience in my youth was intoxication using adult beverages and inhalants on occasion went ‘hand in hand’ with my hatred for Jews. I identified as an anti-Semite at a very early age like these terrorists do.

The intoxicants reduce inhibitions as you say which should give us a pause for thought.
