He reminds me of Bill Clinton and Obama by the way he presses his lips together. That seems to be the guilty look of the American politician.

I do not believe everything is fake news but, a great deal of "news" presented by media does contain bias designed to steer opinion.

Mark Twain had sound advice:

If you don't read the newspapers, you are uninformed.

If you do read them, then you are misinformed

Absolutely.

But that doesn’t mean that it is fake news to say Ryan doesn’t have the votes.

I do not believe he does have the votes..but he may get them by 3:30

I hope it fails.

Last year, after President Obama vetoed an Obamacare repeal bill that had strong Republican support, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) promised similar repeal if Republicans won the White House.

“We have shown now that there is a clear path to repealing Obamacare without 60 votes in the Senate,” he declared. “So, next year, if we’re sending this bill to a Republican president, it will get signed into law.”

Sadly, he lied.

The bill written by Speaker Ryan this year is nothing like the bill sent to President Obama last year. It fails to repeal many of the core parts of Obamacare and will lead to even higher premiums.

Likewise, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) promised numerous times to repeal Obamacare “root and branch.”

Sadly, he lied too.

This bill leaves Obamacare’s roots, its trunk, and most of its branches. It even waters it with a brand new entitlement program.

These leaders said Obamacare’s mandates could not be repealed procedurally in the Senate, but we learned this week that not only is this untrue, they never even asked the parliamentarian about it.

After this lie was exposed, they admitted that they don’t actually want to repeal the mandates. This, in turn, exposed the lie that they will repeal the mandates administratively in Phase II of their plan.

The lies never end.

Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell broke their word, failed the American people, and let down President Trump.

It’s why there are reports now that the president is disappointed with how GOP leaders handled this process. He should be. And now he should revoke the illegal congressional Obamacare exemption so these leaders are truly motivated to repeal law.

ACHIEVING VICTORY

Now, it’s up to conservatives to clean up the leadership’s mess and deliver a victory for Americans.

First, conservatives should defeat RyanCare. Take it out back and shoot it because it can’t be fixed. It’s poorly constructed on many levels and is so unpopular that the best way forward is to start over.

Second, conservatives should demand full Obamacare repeal since that is what Republicans promised and that is the only thing that will fix our health care system. If GOP leaders refuse, conservatives should begin insisting that repeal be part of other must-pass legislation.

While some may want to walk away from the issue, conservatives won’t do that. We truly oppose government-run health care and will never stop fighting against it.

One strategy is for Congress to move full Obamacare repeal and tax reform together under budget reconciliation. The revenue savings from full repeal could be used as an offset for significant tax cuts, and both could be passed as part of one bill with 51 votes in the Senate.

Additionally, Republicans in Congress need to assess whether it’s time for new leadership. Americans rejected the establishment this past election when they voted for President Trump, and the current leadership may not be willing or even capable of draining the swamp.

Thank you for working so hard to advance the principles of freedom that make America great. Because of your efforts, we may succeed in stopping Obamacare from being forced on us for years to come.

Sincerely,
Ken Cuccinelli II -
Senate Conservative Fund

I would suggest that someone who loses a billion dollars in one year and then recovers to the point where he is worth $10 billion or more does not think in terms of “political capital.” His political bank account has no limit.

This is almost like watching “The Apprentice”. Contestants running to and fro trying to get their assignment accomplished.....then being told “You’re fired” when they fail or get caught playing underhanded tactics. Popcorn time. :)

A failed vote is actually incredibly damaging to the rest of Trump’s agenda. The reason that healthcare was pushed first was that the cost savings from the repeal was intended to offset the short term revenue loss from the planned tax reform so that tax reform could be passed through the reconciliation process. Now tax reform will need to achieve 60 votes in the senate or be scalled back rather dramatically. This is simply a disaster for everyone, POTUS included. And this was supposed to be the easy part. Passing legislation through the house should be automatic. Just pathetic, all the way around.

Part of what goes on in FR is people go read stuff by people who know nothing and then come back here and repeat things already addressed and dismissed. Let’s re-examine them:

1) No, Pence can’t just ignore the Parliamentarian. The left demanded Reid do that in 2009 after Scott Brown won, so they could get single payer. Reid said no, that is just a way to make all bills of any sort Reconciliation and kills the Filibuster, and he would not get his own Senators to vote for that. Same thing today. You could not get even 50, let alone 60, to vote to kill the Filibuster.

2) No, you can’t Rule 19 the 60 vote requirement away and force 2 speeches as a limit. All senators can offer amendments, which are debateable items, and have 2 speeches on each of those, and additionally can raise points of order, which are debateable. It doesn’t work. The only way to end debate is cloture with 60 votes.

3) No, Obamacare doesn’t “implode” or “collapse” or any other word you imagine if you leave it in place. It is fully funded in the budget and inflation indexed. It will always have enough money. If it was growing to consume all gov’t resources, that’s a systemic threat. The Federal Reserve invented Quantitative Ease 8 yrs ago to have the weapon necessary to counter systemic threats. They would just QE the money needed to fund the bonds issued by Treasury to pay for everything. So y’all looking for the sanctuary of doing nothing and letting it die, wrong.

4) The Koch brothers are never Trump people. They will fund anyone in Congress who can stop Trump’s agenda. Today, that’s the right wing red meat types who can rely on their money if the GOP cut them off in an election. This Freedom Caucus (that no one heard of 5 yrs ago) isn’t going to expand reach and philosophy and get moderate districts in FL and NY because they were loudly right wing. They do nothing but achieve the Koch imperative of backstabbing Trump.

5) Let’s see, what else. Oh yes, moving on. Sorry, Ryan’s original bill had $300+ billion in savings in it. Those were to pay for tax cuts and infrastructure spending and The Wall. That money won’t be there, and the Fed Reserve isn’t going to give them money for non systemic threats. The entire Trump agenda will die, which was the Koch plan, of course.

How many years have Ryan and Mitch ruled the nests? How many years to be prepared when they would have their chance, a chance the American people have once again chosen the GOP to take advantage of. but No. It may not be a constitutional crisis, more like a constipational one.

Time to torch their nests and get some folks in their roles that can do the dirty deed and not just wring their hands.

I hope you still read here President Trump. This getting rid of 0bamacare in 3 stages is just delaying tactics for the swamp to be able to keep 0bamacare in some form.

Congress promised President Reagan immigration reform and a wall, if he would support amnesty. He did and and congress broke their promises.

Like the old saying goes,”Fool me once....”
