Law Takes a Holiday
townhall.com ^ | 3/23/2017 | Victor Davis Hanson

Sociologists in the 1980s found out that when even minor infractions were ignored -- such as the breaking of windows, or vendors walking into the street to hawk wares to motorists in a traffic jam -- misdemeanors then spiraled into felonies as lawbreakers become emboldened.

A federal law states that the president can by proclamation "suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate." Yet a federal judge ruled that president Trump cannot do what the law allows in temporarily suspending immigration from countries previously singled out by the Obama administration for their laxity in vetting their emigrants.

Thanks for your input Mr. Hanson. Yup. Keep letting the little things slide and they become accepted. WTH? Uh, no. Kinda like the leaks coming out of d.c. Meh, no big thing right? WRONG! Will anyone do any time because of it? Based on the lack of action for violating secrecy laws recently, I wouldn't be the farm on it. As far as the McCarran act, it's pretty clear that the President can suspend immigration by anyone at anytime to protect the country. Seems like the comprehension skill of certain libs/dementocrats are sorely lacking.

The reverse is also true. When a large group of law enforcement officers show up, word gets out very quickly. Suddenly, criminals are hard to find. For every one that is arrested, ten silently disappear.

Trump’s just gotta go Andrew Jackson on this. “I’m enforcing the borders now, I’ll appeal later!”

Kinda what I was thinkin’. Instruct ICE/CBP to carry out the EO and damn the torpedoes. We’ll sort it out later in the SCOTUS.

I expect the “leakers” in DC to do time at about the same time Hillary is issued an orange jumpsuit and slapped behind bars! There seems to be no such thing as equal enforcement.

Many criminals never stop unless incarcerated or eliminated. There is no shortage of criminals in this world and/or republic.

“But, unfortunately, law by no means confines itself to its proper functions. And when it has exceeded its proper functions, it has not done so merely in some inconsequential and debatable matters. The law has gone further than this; it has acted in direct opposition to its own purpose. The law has been used to destroy its own objective: It has been applied to annihilating the justice that it was supposed to maintain; to limiting and destroying rights which its real purpose was to respect. The law has placed the collective force at the disposal of the unscrupulous who wish, without risk, to exploit the person, liberty, and property of others. It has converted plunder into a right, in order to protect plunder.”

The problem is dems. They ignore the law when they don’t like it.
