“Also, Walmart and target are getting better at having food delivered to you. That is another option.”

As I have a serious mobility problem, Walmart delivery of food has been a godsend to me. I can get most of what I need through their home delivery. Even milk. You can buy ultra pasteurized boxes of milk (I use Parmalot) that is real milk, and tastes great. It comes in special cardboard containers, by the quart.

Walmart also sells “survivor” food (it’s cheaper; I get Augason Farms brand) for such items as potato gems (makes wonderful mashed potatoes, just about any vegetable (like green/red peppers, mushrooms, corn, beans, onions, celery, etc.) that would otherwise spoil as can’t be kept long; that you rehydrate and therefore don’t need to go out to the grocery store all the time to buy fresh. Tastes just as good and great for stews, soups, etc. It’s amazing how innovative you have to get when you can’t walk well or are somehow housebound.

By the way, CVS Pharmacy now has curbside food pickup; you get their App online; place your order and they bring it out to your car. That way you can fill in the gaps for fresh food, as you can get bread, milk, butter, eggs, etc. Where there is a will, there is a way. Check out the CVS website for info.

Grocery stores are doing curb side pick up too.

the Kroger brand of stores has started it. Not sure if their affiliates are doing it too.

A relative was amazed at the amount of people that use the service. He says he always sees multiple store people with their big carts filling the orders.

target has been more limited in their shipping of groceries but they do in store pick of more of a selection. One tip for target that worked was that you could buy a target gift card to help you get to your minimum order amount for free shipping. don’t know if it still works.

"That way you can fill in the gaps for fresh food, as you can get bread, milk, butter, eggs, etc."

When we first moved to California from WA State,(back in WA now) we had 2 small children. We went grocery shopping and they would not take our check as it was an out of state bank. Thank the Lord they had milk delivery's back then and one came to our door and said if we would sign up for milk delivery he would give us eggs, butter, cottage cheese and milk as a gift for signing up. Then we discovered there was a grocery truck that came around where you could get bread, soups, canned goods etc.

It would be great if they had that again.
