The Big Missing Piece In The ObamaCare Replacement Debate
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 4/17/2017 | Staff

Health Reform: Critics of the Republican's ObamaCare replacement plan — and many moderate Republicans as well — complain that it will result in millions losing insurance. What nobody asks is whether we have too much insurance today.

Insurance, after all, is supposed to make health care more affordable. But what if it's making it less so?

University of Michigan economist Mark Perry recently compared inflation rates for health care with price increases for cosmetic surgery. What he discovered was illuminating.

From 1998 to 2016, the overall inflation rate was 47.2%. But for medical care services, prices went up 100%. And for hospital services, the inflation rate was 177%.

But what about cosmetic surgery — which accounts for $15 billion in spending a year?

REPEAL and do not replace OBAMACARE. Our country survived over 200 years without government meddling in our health choices. It is a liberal idea and why the hell are we embracing it?

Is it your hypothesis that prior to 2010 there was no government role in the health care market?

They need to figure out how to eliminate the concept that our health care is taxed to provide health insurance to the poor, it is utterly family budget crushing

Repeal. Make medical providers reveal cost per service! End hidden pricing with insurance! Tort reform!

We shouldn’t embrace it. But the Libs have convinced around 50% of the people that health care is a RIGHT. I had that argument with a Lib Cousin back in 2007. He put forth the phrase ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’ as his proof of health care being a RIGHT. The ‘life’ part was his reasoning.....to which I pointed out that the word ‘life’ simply meant ‘life’ not cradle to grave health care that doctors, nurses, etc., provide as their conditions of employment. I also pointed out that the Left doesn't care about nascent human life, in the form of a baby in the womb, so how could he justify abortion, as that really IS 'life'.? He rejected that premise, out of hand. They have their talking points, but logic isn't part of the argument. I also asked him, a white collar worker in the auto industry, why it wasn't a RIGHT to own a car? People needs car to enhance their lives, be able to work, etc. He said that was a ‘stupid’ argument. You can make circuitous arguments all the time with Lefties, but they rarely use logic in their emotional rants.

“He said that was a ‘stupid’ argument.”

The missing piece is Constitutional legitimacy.

Compulsion to contract is illegal.
