The Environmental Protection Agency awarded Michigan $100 million in grant money to replace the Flint water system’s damaged infrastructure. The Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act of 2016 provided the funding for this grant that would help Flint replace its lead water pipes that have fallen into disrepair, the EPA said in a statement.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt said this grant is part of the Trump administration’s goal to improve the country’s water infrastructure.

“EPA will especially focus on helping Michigan improve Flint’s water infrastructure as part of our larger goal of improving America’s water infrastructure,” Pruitt said.

Michigan Republicans and Democrats praised the EPA’s decision to fund efforts to repair Flint’s water system.

It’s incredible: EPA and infrastructure spending are suddenly BEAUTIFUL. Weak minds and all.

It would be funny, if federal highway funds weren’t used to help build interstate highways and federal funds were not extended to fund hospitals.

In both instances the federal government does provide funding.

Look, if you guys want to play make believe together and deny what actually takes place, be my guest.

Just don’t think everyone else is going to buy into your denial.

hey D1, I dont do the click thingy.
Dude, no offense, I dont mean to be like old fashion or anything but I’d like to abolish tons of federal agencies. Almost everything except National Security and border control are not federal issues.
In the old days we had tariffs, national defense and at that time immigration was not a problem.

You’re doing nothing but expressing your ignorance of these matters.

Federal dollars are provided for interstate roads and your local hospital would close if all federal government funding ended.

The older population requires the most medical care. Hospitals could close without the federal government paying Medicare related expenses.

Some hospitals the accounts for upwards of 60% of their business.

Infrastructure at hospitals needs to be replaced at some point, and when that happens you’re looking at $50 - $100 million dollars, and sometimes more. The federal government and states help with funding these projects.

Every municipality in the country needs to be competent and self-reliant in handling its own water needs. This is not a proper federal role!

Exactly. Why are the taxpayers in Iowa and Florida bailing out the mismanagement of a left-wing Democrat municipality?

I join you in wanting that sort of thing. I don’t think that makes you old fashioned at all. It’s the direction we need to be heading, and I agree with it.

Right now we are in too deep to do some of the things we both want. For instance, it’s going to take between 20 to 40 years to eliminate Social Security as we know it.

As a resolution to this, I want to see a privatized savings plan that will eliminate Medicare as we know it also.

Obviously we can’t just stop certain programs cold turkey, because our government set the rules and those who played by them would be left with no income and no medical care.

Our infrastructure has not been revamped in my lifetime, in a meaningful comprehensive way.

Some has, but much of it hasn’t.

For now we’re going to have to suck it up and play by the old set of rules, as we transition to a different way to pay for things.

I believe there will always be a need for some federal dollars to help small states meet their needs. Interstate roads are something we all use. States captive population aren’t the only ones who use them.

Do I want to see our federal budget butchered? Yes I do.

Part of this is going to be achieved by cutting, and other parts will be achieved with tax cuts, increased employment, and resultant tax revenues as the tax base expands.

Trump has been in there for two months, and some folks are already to attack him for anything they see as a violation of the promises he made.

I don’t see helping a town like Flint get it’s water system back in order, as a major breach of his promises.

We’re going to have to let some of this play out, so we can see if the overall situation improves. It will.

We want his nation turned around. We want it done now.

As Trump cuts back, we will begin to see the deficit reduced.

Cuts, a broader tax base, some teriffs..., we’re get the job done.

$100 million in Flint sounds like a massive expense to us, but it is a paltry number in today’s budget terms.

It is not evidence of Trump merely being another Obama or anything like that.

Take care.

The situation is somewhat similar to the flood gates at the outflow canals in New Orleans. Bush, in a matter of months, had operating safety systems in place at a cost which could have been handled by any of the local, city, parish or state jurisdictions. Much of the flooding of the city could have been avoided if any one of these democrat controlled political operations had siphoned of a little less tax money and for corruption and applied it to the infrastructure.

Once again, your ignorance is showing.

Go to your local hospital and tell him he should accept no more federal dollars, and remember the look on his face before he boots you the hell out of there.
