Trump may not last a year, his Supreme Court shouldn't last generations

The Senate has scheduled confirmation hearings for President Trump’s nominee, Neil Gorsuch, to fill the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court to begin on Monday — almost exactly a year after President Obama nominated Merrick Garland for the same post.

What difference a year makes.

President Obama held a Rose Garden press conference on the morning of March 16, 2016, to announce his choice of Garland, the centrist chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

Two out of three voters (65 percent) told Pew Research Center last summer that Supreme Court appointments were “very important” to how they would vote in the 2016 presidential race. Nearly 66 million of Americans then went to the polls and cast their vote for Hillary Clinton, compared to 63 million who voted for Donald Trump.

These clowns think we haven’t read their book.

Correct. And in fact, Trump used many of Alinsky's Rules for Radicals to take down Hillary Clinton during the election cycle.

We suspect that at least 30% of The Clinton vote consisted
of illegal aliens voting in sanctuary cities.

The popular vote means nothing anyway. One has to score the vote according to the Constitution.

Neil Gorsuch will make a fine Justice, and he will not be like Scalia at all. Scalia was an orthodox Catholic while Gorsuch is a regular attendee of a liberal leftist progessive church in Boulder, Colorado, St. John’s Episcopal Church. Gorsuch creates wonderful jurisprudence in relation to the Constitution. He is a fair and balanced candidate who is not a leftist, but who has an extremely liberal morality, unlike Scalia who had an extremely conservative morality.

So whats the stink about Gorsuch from the left? He is not a Judge who would be popular on the 9th circuit, not one who would legislate from the bench. Schumer wants a judicial Hewy Newton, America does not. Gorsuch is far from being a Scalia relgiously and would likley have an inclusive view on some issues such as gay rights. Schumer should be embracing Gorsuch uless he wants an Alabama conservative on the bench instead.

Good read on Gorsuch’s religious orientation:

You lost.

You need to look toward opportunities in 2024, maybe 2032.

“Schumer should be embracing Gorsuch unless he wants an Alabama conservative on the bench instead.”

I’m hoping that DJT has a deep bench of such Alabama conservatives. We need some new blood in the Federal Courts. And at least one of those will replace that Aging Octogenarian Vader Ginsburg.

I wouldn't read much if anything into his parish.

In many communities, the Episcopal Church is where you "have" to go once you reach a certain social level (in some, Presbyterian and maybe Methodist are also acceptable). There is also the question of inertia, not wanting to leave a church where you know everybody and are comfortable.

And a smart rector will give the congregation a lot of leeway and not push frankly political junk. We left ECUSA because our rector proclaimed at the time of the whole gay bishop nonsense that anybody who didn't subscribe to his views was not only stupid but evil.

I know what you mean. But Gorsuch’s religious morality is far from Antonin Scalia’s. At times that will become apparent in Gorsuch’s future decisions. The point I was trying to make is that Gorsuch is actaully a genuine liberal in his religioous life, someone who the democrats should be supporting.

But the leftist “Hewy Newton” revolutionary liberal fascists still have a strangle hold on the Dem party, and who actually gutted Bernie Sanders who is not left enough. The mid term elections will show many of these Schumer leftists the door.

Perhaps Schumer will bow to moderate Dems and support Gorsuch. If there every was a time for the Dem moderates to show their stuff, its on the Gorsuch confirmation hearings. If Trump is smart, he will use Gorsuch as a wedge to split of moderate Dems from the liberal fascist wing of the party.

“Not true. Hillary got 66 million votes but about 5 million of those were not americans IMO.”

And, most of her 3 million popular vote win came from California which was wasted votes, money, time spent. Not only was the Hildabeast a bad candidate she was a dumb one as well.

Lincoln won in 1860 with 39.8% of the popular vote and that was enough of a mandate for the Civil War.

What percentage of voters could actually name at least one Supreme Court justice?

Not “most” of her 3.0 (actually 2.8) million” popular vote lead came out of California, ALL AND MORE did - she won that place by 4.3 million votes, many of which came from illegals - don’t tell me that in places like East LA, election officials do ANY checking on voter credentials. Trump won the “real” United States by 1.5 million votes.
