Senate Democrats have expressed frustration that the complex political dynamics surrounding Judge Neil Gorsuchs nomination to the Supreme Court have left the Democratic caucus in flux, as the Trump administration appears poised to install a Scalia-ite conservative on the high court for a generation.
The vexing political calculus concerns seven Democrats standing for reelection next year in states President Donald Trump carried in the 2016 general election. These lawmakers find themselves caught between a furious new class of left-wing activists and organizers, still reeling from Trumps victory, and a midterm electorate in their home states likely to favor Republicans.
As such, many lawmakers have adopted an ambiguous posture as regards the nomination, promising to withhold judgement on Gorsuch until hearings begin before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary. But that choice may have blunted the caucuss chances of developing a message and strategy for derailing the confirmation process. One Democratic senator privately lamented to Politico that there is no caucus strategy whatsoever.

Why is Ditch dragging his turtle claws?
I think the hearings start on March 20th.
Democrats need to go home, and re-think their entire lives.
When is the (confirmation) vote set to take place?
I wonder what Schumer’s 21st Century version of ‘pubic hair on a Coke can will be.’
Won’t work.
“As the confirmation hearings draw near, Democratic leadership appears to have settled on messaging around the nomination. They plan to paint Gorsuch as a callous, pro-corporate jurist who consistently aligns himself with powerful constituencies.”
Dear Democrats, a Supreme Court Justice is required to make decisions based on the law. The law YOU wrote. If you don’t like the laws you wrote, why don’t you pass new legislation & change the law?
That date won't be set until he gets out of committee. Considering Schumer's obstructionism and Mitch McConnell's paralysis in the face of it I'd say sometime late 2021.
Arguing a judge is “too conservative” is a tough sell as activist judges are issuing blantantly politically motivated stay orders.
Not to republicans...Get Gorsuch in there NOW!!! Then the 9th circus can make foolish rulings all it wants and maintain their 80% over ruling rate.
But thats not fair. The people wont elect enough leftists to enact the laws they want. So they need the courts to fix it. After all “the constitution” really just means the way leftists think it ought to be, and has nothing to do with what was written down and agreed to by the lesser peoole. (Sarcasm tag implicit)

One of the main problems with our system is that this job is so cushy that these guys are geared for their re-election from the first day they take office. The country comes 2nd.
The Constitution requires the "advice and consent" of the Senate. It doesn't spell out how to obtain that advice and consent. I suggest that the President send each Senator a letter asking for their advice and consent on his nominations. When he gets 51 responses indicating assent to his choice for any position, they are in. Nothing requires a vote as a body, except tradition. The hell with tradition, let's get things done!
