“ISIS is trapped. … Any of the fighters left in Mosul, they’re going to die there,” Brett McGurk said in a conference in Baghdad late Sunday... “So we are very committed to not just defeating them in Mosul, but making sure these guys cannot escape,” McGurk stated.

The main roads are cut out of Mosul, and Iraqi Security Forces maintain a high pace of operation clearing Western Mosul.

Amid heavy fighting in the Old Town (the toughest terrain in the city) the ISIS Commander (Abu Abdul Rahman al-Ansary) was reported killed today, and 90% of the Old Town is now reported captured from ISIS. This was expected to be the toughest part of the fight for Western Mosul.

Wouldn’t have heard that under obummer :)

It’s GOT TO BE a scary feeling being an ISIS POS and hearing that.

I wonder if this war has hardened enough Iraqi Troops that they can be an efficient army.

One that would make tribal warriors think twice in Iraq.

Could’t let me be happy for 10 minutes, could ya?

I forgot about that for a minute.

####.

Scary part is the number of muslim citizens in America who are ready to act if called upon FAR outnumbers even them.

“I wonder if this war has hardened enough Iraqi Troops that they can be an efficient army.”

They are, by the standards of the region.

Also, they really seem to have ISIS’ number - none of their jihadi tricks (IEDs, waves of suicide trucks) seem to work for them any more. The Iraqi Security Forces (”Police” are a big part of the front line assault) have their tactics, techniques and procedures dialed in to fight these guys. They are cutting through them like a hot knife through butter.

Right out of the Patton playbook: "Make the other poor, dumb, bastard die for HIS country".

The right stuff.

Looks like the planned uprising of American jihadis and the subsequent conjuring of martial law with a New World Order police state takeover has had a little setback.

My preference is our U.S.-led coalition kills boatloads of ISIS terrorists and we say nothing. Leftwingers will try to halt this good news.

Donald Trump said in 2016 that Hillary and Hussein Obama set up ISIS.

He wasn't kidding.

Hussein is on his prayer rug calling on Allah to help his fighters.

Hussein Obama in his security tent. His prayer rug cannot be seen in the photo. /sarc

Oh good.
Next you can go to the Sinai, Libya and Somalia ....
We can spend the next 100 years chasing down ISIS and the many ISIS-like groups ... meanwhile they can make them faster than we can kill them.

That is great news.

I would imagine under Trump a lot more sorties have happened but the fight still has to be won on the ground and they are doing a great job.

I wonder if Brett McGurk would have been fired if he said that under Obama.

From Wikipedia: “Brett H. McGurk (born April 20, 1973) is an American lawyer and diplomat who was appointed by President Barack Obama on 23 October 2015.”

Maybe he’s a closet Trumper.

With a name like Brett McGurk I was thinking more of some Irish Special Forces guy with a big red mustache and sideburns sticking out from his beret.
