Here's How to Establish a Merit-based Legal Immigration System

At his first joint session speech, President Trump mentioned that the U.S. should have a merit-based legal immigration system similar to what Canada and Australia have. He's right and I have advocated for this very same point for years. While the U.S. gives overwhelmingly preference to family reunion-based immigration, Canada and Australia give preference to skilled workers. For example, over 60% of immigrants to Canada each year are skilled/employment based, compared to only 20% of U.S. legal immigrants. Both Canada and Australia use web-based point systems that lets a potential immigrant do an online self-assessment to find out if he or she is eligible to immigrate to their countries. The point system works like a scorecard and it usually takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete. It evaluates an applicant's language ability, work experiences, education, etc. Only applicants who pass the minimum score can move forward with their immigration application.

More Cuckservative treachery.

Yet another instance in which Conservatives try to outdo Liberals after they've adopted yet another premise of the Left.

"Liberal immigration policy is not effective, try our immigration policy instead!"

America not only needs NO IMMIGRATION, it needs dramatic REVERSE IMMIGRATION.

Tens of millions of post 1965 immigrants and their families need to go back to wherever the hell they came from.

That's the immigration policy America really needs.

Amen to that. What happens when the white people are finally gone? Who keeps the lights on for the hordes?

Re: “...the U.S. should have a merit-based legal immigration system similar to what Canada and Australia have.”

Yeah - it would last about 30 seconds before it was buried in politically motivated Executive Orders and Congressional amendments and exceptions. Oh, I forgot, it would also be declared unconstitutional because it discriminates against unproductive citizens in foreign countries.

Re: “...over 60% of immigrants to Canada each year are skilled/employment based...”

Is that supposed to be good news? Why isn’t it 100%?

How about this idea...

On a daily basis, the President of the United States publicly mocks a Third World country for its pathetic GDP, its corruption, its violence, its indolence, and the political and economic cowardice of its citizens!

Yep, that's the Conservative answer.

"Illegal immigration is bad. Let's flood the country with immigrants with no connection to the heritage and traditions of America, but let's do it legally."

I've been saying for years that Conservatives have an obsession with following the rules. It's why they have 1001 excuses not to fight the Democrats.

"Muh Constitution" us usually #3 or 4 on their list. Once they find a rule that they might bend to fight back against the Left, then they throw up their hands and say "Well, we tried" and give up.

They want follow the rules to destroy Western Civilization. Illegal immigration is so unseemly and uncouth. That's because it's against the law, not that the immigrants are destroying the nation. No, it's just that illegal immigration is against the rules. That's it.

So Conservatives want to just pass a law to open to the borders to everybody in the world, and Conservatives feel much better about themselves. Then it'll all the legal.

100 points required to come here legally.

Ability to speak, read and write English - 25 points.

Proof that the applicant never used falsified documentation to get onto an American payroll - 35 points.

Proof that the applicant never voted in an American election before - 40 points.

Now, in some cases, it might be challenging to PROVE a negative such as "never voted in an American election" or "never falsified documentation", but hey, if you want something, you should have to work for it. Actually, proving that the applicant lived someplace else for the last X years and did not take advantage of us would be the best proof that the applicant is a decent person, the kind of person who would be a positive addition to our country.
