Dennis Kucinich: I'm no fan of Trump's but he's got a point about wiretapping
Fox News ^ | March 10, 2017 | Dennis Kucinich

President Trump’s assertion that his phones at Trump Tower were tapped last year has been treated as hilarious—and in some circles as beyond contempt. But I can vouch for the fact that extracurricular surveillance does occur, regardless of whether it is officially approved. I was wiretapped in 2011 after taking a phone call in my congressional office from a foreign leader.

That a secret recording had been made of this call was revealed to me by the Washington Times in 2015, a full two years after I left office.

The newspaper’s investigative reporters called me, saying they had obtained a tape of a sensitive telephone conversation that they wanted me to verify.

When I met them at a Chinese restaurant in Washington, they played back audio of a call I had taken in my D.C. congressional office four years earlier.

The call had been from Saif el-Islam Qaddafi, a high-ranking official in Libya’s government and a son of the country’s ruler, Moammar Qaddafi.

"When I met them at a Chinese restaurant in Washington..."

This has Spy Thriller/Action-adventure movie written all over it... except for the Kucinich part. Of course in those kind of movies, Dennis would be the guy killed off during the meeting while the reporter barely escapes with his own life.

Kucinich shoud be advising him on civil liberties and surveillance, also as a wedge against the neo-cons on Syria and Russia

I’m surprised Obama didn’t take Kucinich out after that.

Article is confirmation of Trump’s claims.

How does a nebbish like that get a wife as hot as his? Is she waiting for him to kick off to get his money?

That is scary, isn’t it?

And Assange is some kind of traitor for letting US know that.

Maybe his positives like here outweigh some of his sins elsewhere. I would always consider it betrayal to reveal troop movents during war, for example.

Which means wapo & nyt are traitors....but we knew that

Kucinich speaks truth to power. He and his wife are also very passionate about the "friendly rebels" in Syria being terrorists. He's opposed to trade deals that don't protect the jobs of US workers. His district wasn't just gerrymandered to get him out of power; it was shattered into tiny incomprehensible pieces. Interesting that both parties wanted to dismantle his district.

Want some FB fun? Whenever Kucinich comes out with something like this, liberal maniacs go insane on his post. Personally, I think that Dennis and Elizabeth should have posts in the Trump administration. Elizabeth is very knowledgeable about the human toll of the horrific Eastern Europe and Mideast war-mongering. Dennis is second-generation Eastern European, and would be a terrific ambassador to one of those countries.

“Kucinich speaks truth to power.”

I agree. He’s one of the few Dems/libs that DH and I will listen to. Instead of toeing the party line on every issue, he makes his opinions on a case-by-case basis and isn’t afraid to speak up, even if it pisses off his fellow Dems. We actually like him.

And Assange is some kind of traitor for letting US know that.

He's not an American so he can't be a traitor.

BTW if he has the information, then our enemies have it and had it long before he revealed it.

The only people that are in the dark about most of this stuff are the ordinary citizens.

Which means wapo & nyt are traitors....but we knew that

They are "un-American" but since their offices are located within the United States, then they are indeed "traitors".

They would sacrifice their own children if they thought it would bring down Trump.

Uh, I’m not sure “honest” and “liberal” can be used in the same sentence. LOL!

I don’t know what is worse, Obama spying on Congress, reporters, or a Presidential candidate. Any one of them should be verboten, but Imam Obama did all three.

I agree. Trump would be well served to bring honest Democrats (what few there are) into the fold. Kucinich and his wife I think would qualify.

I don’t particular like Democrats but occasionally there are some old-school honest democrats (like Zell Miller) who have their heart and loyalities in the right place. Those people should be recognized and rewarded.

A concept called the Overton window represents the range of ideas the public will accept. By bringing honest Democrats and reasonable people into the Trump administration, and promoting their skills and talents, Trump has the advantage of possibly resetting that the Overton window.

This could have an effect of Trump philosophically taking the holding the battleground of ideas — while turning the public toward his positions, while freezing out the radical leftists and showing them as far outside mainstream thinking.

The left has done this for years — calling reasonable positions that Republicans propose “extreme” to force the public to see their side as “reasonable”. It’s time to turn the tables and force the left far into the “extreme” zone.
