Cruz, Lee, Paul demand 'full repeal' of ObamaCare
The Hill ^ | 02/27/17 | JORDAIN CARNEY

Three GOP senators are adding an extra hurdle to the looming fight over nixing the Affordable Care Act, arguing they want a "full repeal" of ObamaCare.

Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.), Ted Cruz (Texas) and Mike Lee (Utah) each pointed to the Senate's 2015 repeal bill as the "bare minimum" for the 2017 repeal legislation.

"2 yrs ago, the GOP Congress voted to repeal Obamacare. That 2015 repeal language should be the floor, the bare minimum," they each tweeted, along with the hashtag "FullRepeal."

The tweets come after the conservative House Freedom Caucus voted to oppose an ObamaCare repeal bill if it does not go as far as the repeal measure that passed in 2015.

Conservatives have been pushing for the 2015 repeal bill, which kills the core elements of the law including its subsidies, taxes, mandates and Medicaid expansion, to be brought up again. Paul — who has warned about only partially repealing the Affordable Care Act — went further, adding on Twitter that GOP lawmakers shouldn't settle for "ObamaCare lite."

If the three of them vote no, the bill is dead.

These guys have been very much against Trump, forever.

They really do not have any credibility on this issue.

Just saying.

“We need 60 votes! Reconciliation! Senate tradition and process! You purists need to accept this - we’ll repeal Obamacare just like we’ll secure the border if we can get our amnesty passed!” < /S >

These guys have been very much against Trump, forever.

Those guys are US Senators. Their job is to make the law. Trump hs opened the bidding, now it’s their turn to engage in negotiations to turn a bill into a law, just like Schoolhouse Rock taught.

Go do your jobs, boys.

I suspect that they may not be the only GOP no votes. Do you see Sasse voting for this monstrosity, for example?

They are doing their job. The rest are just folding like bad card-table chairs, executing the favorite Republican strategy, preemptive surrender.

Both Cruz and Lee have met with Trump and vowed to work with him. And Paul was NeverTrump for maybe a few weeks.

Just because we oppose RyanCare doesn't mean we're against Trump. Trump, and Ryan are simply wrong on this. Nothing wrong with pointing out that Trump is wrong on an issue.

Rand Paul has been very supportive of Trump.

With the possible exception of Sessions, I can't think of a Senator who has been moreso.

Why are they obligated to make law? The only thing Congressional Republicans need to do is pass a full repeal. Don’t worry about replacing it or trying to fix it. That’s not their problem.

Trump campaigned on repealing Obamacare.

You're saying these three have no credibility?

The only thing worse than a "NeverTrumper" is an "AlwaysTrumper"; the kind of person who will twist himself into a knot trying to justify everything Trump does, no matter how wrong.

It would be extremely risky for President Trump’s assiduous efforts to fulfill this campaign promise failed in any way.
He would look weak and the democrats would have a field day going into next year’s elections.
So much time and political capital have already been invested and the prospect of not having sufficient votes within his own party would be embarrassing.
I understand that health care had to come first on the agenda statutorily before other issues such as tax cuts and tackling the massive infrastructure projects.
It seems that Obamacare has become an almost untouchable governmental entitlement similar to medicare and social security benefits. The GOP absolutely by no means repeal it in its entirety without crafting a seamless transition that safeguards the most vulnerable recipients/beneficiaries.
President Trump maintained during the campaign that no one in our country would be dying in the streets on his watch.

The republicans cannot afford to pull the proverbial out from underneath those who have desperately relied upon provisions of Obamacare!!!

It's against the law for ERs to turn people away.

But Republicans aren't responsible for Obamacare though. What about the people who were happy with their plans and lost them under Obamacare? Where are their sob stories?

Correction to my post:
I meant to say that the GOP cannot pull the proverbial rug out from underneath those who have benefited.

It was Trump who told us at each and every freaking rally that he was going to REPEAL and REPLACE Obamacare! Sorry, but Cruz, Paul, and Lee are not responsible for Trump’s promises!

Sorry, this is on Trump! This implementing this repeal in phases is utter and complete bull sh*t!
