Wikileaks #Vault7 Drop Reveals U.S. Government Secretly Paying to Keep Software Vulnerable

Wikileaks unveiled their largest vault of confidential CIA documents which they dubbed 'Vault 7'. One of the documents revealed a bombshell - the U.S. government is secretly paying to keep U.S. software such as iOS and Android unsafe.

The U.S. government is paying to keep U.S. software unsafe. They are intentionally developing vulnerabilities instead of securing systems. This is criminal and reckless. This means iOS and Android can be hacked, spied on and/or infected with malware. Because of the software vulnerabilities, various messaging apps with encryption can also be accessed.

#Vault 7 shows that Apple has been proven right. Governments can't be trusted to keep "for the government only" security holes safe,

If you're writing about the CIA/@Wikileaks story, here's the big deal: first public evidence USG secretly paying to keep US software unsafe. pic.twitter.com/kYi0NC2mOp

-- Edward Snowden (@Snowden) March 7, 2017

The CIA reports show the USG developing vulnerabilities in US products, then intentionally keeping the holes open. Reckless beyond words.

Looking more and more like that iOS-based DDOS attack just before the election was the work of someone who stole the CIA’s toolkit.

We have known for over 15 years that they had this capability to Hack Smart Phones, ALL OF THEM. If the Battery is in it, whether it is turned on or off, THEY OWN IT!!!

Wait, I'm confused...

WHO has the CIA been paying?

The first thing that came to mind was the notion that government spooks were giving Apple, Inc. money under the table to keep these vulnerabilities active and secret.

But that would be ridiculous.

(Wouldn't it...?)

What I have read today stuns me at the disregard of out constitutional protection. This is illegal by any standards. I am of the opinion the the CIA should be bulldozed to the ground and the intelligence establishment with it. These bastards need to be replaced with patriots. It is illegal to spy on American citizen without a warrant. Fisa is a joke— we see that with the hoax Russia lie used on our President before the election.
Who are we sending to Congress in Washington. Are these bozos complicit or that stupid?

This is the same concept they’ve used w/telecommunication carriers from just about day 1. Built in capability for monitoring and tracing.

They pay Microsoft, HP, Google, Apple, Yahoo, Cisco and many, many more.

Everyone that makes a communication product, operating system or operates a service.

These are the entities most at risk now. The CIA gets new funding for new “solutions” and is not badly hurt. Just a bump in the road.

But their collaborators in industry will face foreign embargo and upgrade refusal in the US.

A trillion dollar hit. Easy.

If it’s secret, then neither you nor I, nor the author of this article knows about it.

We have been sold on obtaining expensive entertainment and communications devices that serve as control units for our surveillance and eventual actions/reactions. They further isolate us from each other under the guise of facilitating communication, and appear to be, according to some recent studies, hampering our brain function when used constantly.

Now who would benefit from that?

Complicit.

You surely don’t believe the CIA has these great tools and doesn’t use them to leverage funding and squelching of oversight, do you?

And, think about it: Any money the CIA could send to these companies is peanuts. The REAL payoff is legislation obtained via blackmail.

Open borders. H-1b. Pressure on foreign govts. Monopoly favorable regulation.

Silicon Valley gets what they want. Intelligence gets what they want. Congressmen get what they want.

Everybody lives happily ever after. Until...

“Who are we sending to Congress in Washington. Are these bozos complicit or that stupid?”

You left off the third option: that the intelligence agencies know all the politicians’ dirty laundry and simply blackmail them into compliance. That’s part of the standard intelligence bag of tricks. If they can’t find any dirt, they set up stings to make the dirt themselves.

Wiki Leaks and CIA treason.

This is even worse than we thought. Last year and early this year, some of us were posting how Truman created the NSA and CIA by EXo, and how in particular the CIA should be shut down by EXo. This data makes them even more dangerous than many of us thought!

How about both and being afraid of what could be done to them.

That's why in retrospect, even though he was a Liberal asshat, I have to hand it to Frank Church. He did not fear the CIA, and in fact, did his best to destroy it.
