It is so unusual for a former president to stay in there and play the game of thrones that I believe it is proper to get rid of the former politeness that kept current governments from holding prior administrations accountable for their misdeeds.
And if he comes back with ‘muh Russians’, say even if Putin had his head up Trump’s ASS there’s nothing illegal about it and nothing they can do about it.
I believe all this “Russian hacking” bs was obama/Deep State’s preemptive strike against their OWN F***ING hacking of President Trump and his administration. They knew their scandal was going to come out after President Trump took office, so they needed a cover. Russian hacking was their excuse and building up the narrative before President Trump could get started.

Mr. President, you are the duly elected Chief Executive Officer of the USA. It is your duty to investigate and prosecute when evidence shows laws have been broken. I don't want to hear Comey parsing about intent. Ignorance of the law is NO excuse.
I agree with much of that, but, I think the original intel assessment also makes sense. It might be “some of all”, from the Russian perspective:
First, it should be kept in mind that the Russians tried to hack both the DNC and the RNC, but failed in the latter effort. It would make sense that they would try to obtain info. on both sides that they could use for manipulation, regardless of who won.
However, I believe the bigger purpose was just as originally explained: The Russians main purpose was to sow discord to weaken the US.
Regardless of who won, the Russians would be in a bad way. Hillary would continue to cause trouble in the ME and elsewhere, which Russia with its weak economy can ill afford. Trump would be even more effective: While not opposing Russia so overtly, he would amp up the arms race, while pushing the rest of NATO to ante up too. Russia cannot possibly afford to keep up, and to make matters worse, Trump will unleash US energy production, cutting off Putin at the knees.
The only real way Russia has to prevent any of that, aside from nukes, is to sow enormous discord in the US.
The ironic part, of course, is that the left (and certain Pubs) are yapping loudly about some sort of Russian “threat” via imagined collusion with Trump, when in fact the yappers are playing the part of “the useful idiots” to the tee, in promoting discord in the US, and thereby advancing Putin’s agenda.
Of course, as you say, this could backfire mightily if it ends up with Pence as President. But, I agree, the chances of Trump being forced out of office are minimal, so long as he plays his cards well.

Putin was quoted as saying that if Hillary wins there will be war between the US and Russia. Why would he say that if he wanted Hillary to win? Just asking, not arguing.
