Outgoing President Joachim Gauck criticized US President Donald Trump in an interview on Friday, saying the American leader is calling into question what the US and Europe have worked towards together.
In an interview with Spiegel published on Friday, Gauck — who will be replaced by Frank-Walter Steinmeier this month — voiced his concerns about the Republican President.
“It worries me a lot that the American President is putting some things into questions that generations of other Americans have achieved with Europeans,” said Gauck.
The German President further condemned Trump’s fraught relationship with the media as he has referred to many major news outlets as “the enemy of the American people”.

But having a Goebbels-like unbelievably biased, dishonest “press” doesn’t “damage democracy”? The left certainly thinks that the right should say “thank you” after being metaphorically raped over and over instead of fighting back. Of course, Germany is unfortunately a society that values order and rules far more than basic freedoms, so everyone is expected to follow along with whatever B.S. their leaders come up with—right off the cliff if need be.
Without freedom, one can never have actual order. Blind obedience and order are opposites.
