Reporter Sharyl Attkisson says feds hacked computer, CBS protected Obama

Those who suspect the worst about the Obama administration and the media won’t have their beliefs contradicted by former CBS News reporter Sharyl Attkisson’s explosive book, “Stonewalled: My Fight for Truth Against the Forces of Obstruction, Intimidation and Harassment in Obama’s Washington.”

“Stonewalled,” in which Ms. Attkisson recounts the conflicts over coverage with network executives leading up to her resignation in March,snip, but eye-popping excerpts are making their way into the press and social media.

The most incendiary charge: that Ms. Attkisson’s personal computer and CBS laptop were hacked after she began filing stories about Benghazi that were unflattering to the Obama administration. A source who checked her laptop said the hacker used spyware “proprietary to a government agency,” according to a Monday article in the New York Post.

“This is outrageous. Worse than anything Nixon ever did. I wouldn’t have believed something like this could happen in the United States of America,” said the source, according to Ms. Attkisson’s account in the New York Post.

In Oct. 3 video preview of book, Ms. Attkisson describes how her computer suddenly went haywire as she was working at home on Benghazi story.

“As I was typing and working on questions for a Benghazi-related story, the data started wiping kind of at hyperspeed, being deleted, as if computer had been hijacked and I had no control over it,” Ms. Attkisson says in the video.

“I knew because I had had so many anomalies over the past year and a half, two years, that someone was interfering with the computer,” she said. “It was described to me by the computer experts I consulted with afterward that that was purely an attempt to let me know that they could do that and they were watching and that they were in my computer.”

I think it provides an interesting perspective in contrast to the parade of pundits and pols (and former administration officials/Clapper) on the Pravda news. channels that are chirping Trump has no proof and way there was wiretapping or surveillance...

By the way, if Ben Rhodes now has a full time job with the Holocaust Museum (via Obama’s last second appointment), how is it he is still operating as a national spokesperson for Obama (as happened today)? Is he double dipping on the paychecks? Any conflict of interest there?

Given the news today and over the weekend, I am surprised no one interviewed her! However, I suspect her Full Measure program recorded today,will be amazing~~! I don’t get her channel on my cable, so I wait for it to be put up on You Tube.

1. Obama Spox Says Obama Never Wiretapped a US Citizen-Immediately Receives Harsh History Lesson:

A spokesman of former President Barack Obama said Saturday that the Obama administration never “ordered surveillance” on any United States citizen during Obama’s eight years in office — despite facts that say otherwise.

“A cardinal rule of the Obama Administration was that no White House official ever interfered with any independent investigation led by the Department of Justice,” Obama spokesman Kevin Lewis said in a statement.

“As part of that practice, neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen,” he added. “Any suggestion otherwise is simply false.”

The statement came after President Donald Trump accused Obama on Saturday of wiretapping Trump Tower during the final weeks of last year’s presidential campaign.

Lewis’ comments, however, struck a cord on Twitter — and many were quick to fact check his claim that the Obama administration never targeted a U.S. citizen with surveillance.

In fact, it’s widely known that Obama’s Justice Department targeted journalists with wiretaps in 2013, most famous Fox News’ James Rosen and his family. The wiretaps were part of an investigation into government officials anonymously leaking information to journalists. The Associated Press was also a target of the surveillance.

2. Government Spying on Fox News Reporter Even Worse Than AP Case

The Associated Press phone snooping scandal is still simmering. But now, adding fuel to the fire, another egregious example of the government spying on American reporters has been disclosed.

The Washington Post reports that James Rosen, the chief Washington correspondent for Fox News, was subjected to intense government monitoring as part of an investigation into possible leaks of classified information about North Korea in 2009. The intrusion on Rosen was more severe than that of the AP reporters, whose phone call records were grabbed as part of a separate national security leaks investigation. According to court documents, two days’ worth of Rosen’s personal e-mails, documents, and attachments stored in a Gmail account were seized as were all his historic emails to a Yahoo account used by the alleged source, State Dept. security adviser Stephen Jin-Woo Kim. The feds obtained authorization to seize information showing Rosen’s communication with “any other source” related to the leak and also demanded Google turn over IP addresses and other metadata stored by the reporter’s Gmail account. In addition, investigators tracked Rosen’s movements to and from the State Department using security badge access records, and the timings of his calls with Jin-Woo Kim were traced.

The Post notes that a federal judge approved a search warrant to seize the content of Rosen’s private emails on the basis that there was “probable cause” that the journalist was a “co-conspirator.” Google was ordered not to disclose the existence of the warrant, and it is not clear whether the company lodged any legal objections. (A spokesman for Google had not responded for comment at the time of publication.) An FBI counterespionage agent in an affidavit alleged that the reporter had broken the law “at the very least, either as an aider, abettor and/or co-conspirator.” This contentious reasoning appears to be grounded in the notion that any journalist receiving and publishing classified material from a confidential source is engaging in a criminal act—even although the U.S. government has never successfully prosecuted a reporter for disseminating unlawfully leaked classified information.
