This explains a LOT, no wait, doesn’t add up
That’s brutal, and probably was true until a few decades ago. Now many young men swear they’ll never want children.
Centuries in fact. My step daughter who owns her own IT business won’t even date a man who makes less than she does. She’s seen it happen with her friends, they marry low wage earners, marriages fail.
And when it takes 3 incomes to marry and have 1 baby, house, 2 cars, you are screwed.
Military men and women still seem to attract spouses though. And they aren’t high wage earners unless you are Brass, it’s a struggle to stay afloat, and spouse has to work too.
The factories and other professions tend to rise and fall together.
God never dictated any one financial arrangement. The important thing is love honor and obey voluntarily. Love is fragile if money egotism gets in the way.
So true, I raised my boys by myself for a decade working in a factory starting pay was $3.50, took 7 yrs to work up to $5.00. We lived in a $65 a month shack, no phone, dad gave me his old car, and mom gave me her old washer and dryer, and dad kept them running. Or I’d not have made it, that was before welfare. Couldn’t force the court ordered child support or his arrest. Never laid eyes on his boys until the day I buried our 16 year old who was murdered by a sociopath for the jollies to see what it was like to kill, Jeremy had the mental and physical make up of a 12 yr old.
You could write a country song.
And it would be grittier than the ersatz stuff that BMI greases out there today. And tell a story of decency in the face of indecency rather than vice versa. Wanna collaborate on it? Only half kidding.
(Freepmail if you do. I’m actually an upward mobile song writer. My current one is being dished to Donald Trump...)
I have a nephew who is playing the upscale clubs in Nashville, is doing some opening acts and a little touring, paying his dues. Went to Nashville with a few bucks, car and a guitar. Tooties, LaLa’s are his usual haunts, Nick Cross, he plays several instruments, writes, and sings. This is his Promo, he’s been interviewed by several music publications so far, I’ve pics of him with Little Jimmy Dickens, and Brooks/Dunn.

What belongs in a good country song, God/Jesus, Flag, love of USA, Troops, Fast Trucks, and love. At least that is my vision of a good country song. So many favorites. I missed Eddie Rabbit when he disappeared, never knew he died of lung cancer. Great song writer and singer belongs in both writer’s and CMHF. Watched Holly Dunn sing Daddy’s Hands last night. We watch a lot of older country music on RFDTV.
Hey best of success to the fellow and all who are countering the rot and not bowing to Baal.
It cannot be religiose or it will leave a phony after taste. Like Splenda cookies. (Which for some reason I tried last night.) Inspiration to grit is needed.
OK I brought it up.
Just a word of wisdom. Avoid the Splenda cookie effect. Cloying. These stars look like perfumed princes sometimes. The pickup trucks that matter aren’t fast but they carry heavy loads.
City caricatures of country are just that.

(This was done with a CHEAP lap steel when we were getting dirt poor. I wondered if it was worth it. Now I think it was.)
Yeah, a shop atmosphere is about as manly as it gets. Hours of silence until someone has an interesting/challenging job/problem, then everyone else seems to gather to offer ideas and insights. Then, it’s back to work.
