The welcoming of those young people who prefer to live together without getting married…

The Pope spoke to parish priests, that is, to pastors who have their hands in everything and who know well the concrete situations of people. No one knows the varied reality of life better than they do.

The Pope asked the parish priest 2 things:

to witness to the grace of the Sacrament of Marriage and its strength, to make people aware of the grace and the beauty of marriage. to be concretely attentive, without the attitudes of bureaucrats, to situations and people. The Church is a mother and she takes care of people tenderly. And this is why he asks for the welcoming of those young people who prefer to live together without getting married.

Hat tip: Rod Dreher. This Pope seems intent on making the Catholic church a branch of modern Anglicism.

I guess Frankie feels that the taxpayers don’t mind supporting other people’s children. “Go ahead! Shack up!” - Frankie da Pope.

So what exactly would it look like if a Pope played with a ball of fire? Oh, wait a sec...

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit. - 1 Thes. 4: 3-8

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. 1 Timothy 4: 1-5

That used to be called living in sin.

Fake Pope doesn’t recognize sin.

Yes ... the Church welcomes sinners. Welcoming does not equal giving them the same sacraments those living in a state of grace receive.

Not Catholic and don’t offer many opinions on the Pope, but I do remember when it was felt that a man and a woman living together without being married was a big deal.

Who could have guessed we’d end up talking about the things that are front-page news nowadays?

The new Pope: Taking the “sacred” out of “sacraments” one at a time.

Exactly. He didn't say, "Invite these couples to Communion." Rather, he said welcome them "to witness to the grace of the Sacrament of Marriage and its strength, to make people aware of the grace and the beauty of marriage."

"I do not like the reappearance of the Jesuits....
Shall we not have regular swarms of them here, in as many disguises as only a king of the gipsies can assume, dressed as printers, publishers, writers and schoolmasters?

If ever there was a body of men who merited damnation on earth and in Hell, it is this society of Loyola’s.

Nevertheless, we are compelled by our system of religious toleration to offer them an asylum.”

All being driven by the collection basket IMHO.

Like an AM radio station they are losing ten customers a day via the obituary column. Young people are not showing up to replace them. I’m over 50 and am frequently the youngest person at Mass.

This Vatican has set out to bring them back, by any means necessary.

Smaller, holier and poorer was a no-sale with most of the Cardinals. Woodward and Bernstein were right. Follow the money.

I can’t imagine why any Christian of any denomination finds this acceptable.

Sin, among the many forms of deviance, is still being defined down, until there is no more appearance of any stigma attached to engaging in self-indulgent behavior.

Failure to commit is a character defect. And obviously it is widely shared. Not just in sexual unions, but in so many aspects of life.

Attended the wake for Mrs. infool7’s boss (28) yesterday, he hit a tree on his way home from work. He didn’t know that the mother of his two children (two and four years old) had just found out that she was pregnant with their third child. They were not married and it is absolutely heartbreaking to see how young people have been convinced in the (false) triviality of marriage.

My wife and I have been married for over 32 years and it is extremely disappointing and disheartening that the Church seems to be diluting the importance of marriage in the family.

Saint Joseph Pray for our young couples that they each may find their way to a holy marriage.

Not only are they not getting married any more, the females of those that are getting married no longer seem to be taking their husband’s last name as their own. What is this all about? What happened to the two shall become one? Drives me crazy.

In the same boat as you regarding the Pope. I also remember having a child out of wedlock was a really big deal for both the girl and guy. Now over 40% are out of wedlock and considered quite acceptable. (Remember Murphy Brown). I don’t think God is pleased.

Used to be called living in sin as was the homosexual lifestyle. Popey has no problems with priests having female sex partners today does he? Can’t expect only the heterosexuals to remain celibate.

That’s why Pope Benedict made his famous “smaller, poorer, holier” comment. In order to remain true to its principles he knew that the Church would inevitably have to become all three.

Not long afterwards he was shown the door.

If marriage (between one man and one woman) was not important to a society, why does it exist?

If Western Civilization survives this era, our descendants will look back at this time and name it the CRAZY TIMES.

All the normal rules that allow for people to function successfully in a society are being tossed aside in the name of everyone doing what they feel like doing. This will lead to Chaos.

There is a natural order of things and I believe we are near a point of a major backlash. The left has shown they can rule by the tyranny of the courts. They will not be happy when the courts begin to rule against them.

Homosexuals and feminist won their battles years ago. Most American were ready to just live and let live.

But that was not enough for them. They keep pushing and pushing not for tolerance but celebration of their lifestyle. And if you are not celebrating with them, you must be demonized and destroyed.

Weakening marriage is just another step on the long road to destroying western culture.

In [at least some parts of] Canada, the woman does NOT, by law, change her name. That one blindsided me when marrying a Canadian. Thankfully she uses my surname as normal convention, but on paper she’s hyphenated and in Canada still her maiden name.
