Rep never had a chance. Delaware is a deep, DEEP blue State and is populated with people who live of the government and have done so for generations.

The same Republican ran in the race in 2014 and lost by two points so theoretically this seat should have been in play. This time he lost by 16. Yes, Delaware is a blue state but it would have been a nice pickup.

I am not so sure about that since had we won, we’d have majority rule in the state. Now Democrats keep it by 1 seat.

That particular district was winnable. The 2014 vote there was 6230 D (51%) - 5963 R (49%).

Hmm....it’s very rare for the turnout in a special election to be higher than that of the regular general election. The Dems did pour a lot into this district.
