66 Percent of Trump Voters Turn Off Awards Shows When Speeches Get Political

A THR and National Research Group survey reveals how Clinton voters and Trump voters view the Oscars differently.

And you thought Obamacare was a hot-button issue. According to a new THR poll, Americans are nearly as divided about the Oscars as they are about health care.

The survey — conducted by the National Research Group, which in early February canvassed 800 people (half Hillary Clinton voters, half Donald Trump voters) for their opinions about movies, award shows and politics — reveals that two-thirds of Trumpsters have turned off their TV sets because of an actor giving a political speech at the podium, compared to just 19 percent of Clinton voters.

Even if they don’t hit the off button, 44 percent of Trump voters find awards speeches “too political” while Clinton supporters want more politics at the Academy Awards; 43 percent say they want winners to reference Trump’s temperament in their speeches (compared to 8 percent of Trump voters), 39 percent would like more discussion of women’s rights at the Oscars (8 percent for Trump voters) and 34 percent would like more talk about Trump’s seven-nation travel ban (7 percent for Trump voters).

In general, 68 percent of Trump voters say they “dislike” political speeches at the Oscars while only 23 percent of Clinton voters feel the same. About the only area of agreement is that neither side finds Oscar acceptance speeches particularly convincing: Only about a quarter of respondents on both sides of the political fence said their opinion about an issue has ever been changed by an awards show.

"66% of Trump voters turn off awards shows when speeches get political."

And the other 34% don't turn them on in the first place.

I hope the 34 percent compromise with their wives and just mute it until the next presenter comes up.

These clowns have already “burned their bridges” with America as far as I’m concerned. The insanity of liberalism does NOT entertain me.
I can’t turn it off because I don’t plan to turn it on.
I’ve got way too much important stuff to do anyway; I gotta clean the lint out of the dryer, trim my finger nails and the dog needs a bath.
They play stupid games, and win stupid prizes.

I’ve turned off 100% of the so called “award” shows.

I was watching some new TV sitcom with that Vanessa Hudgens in it that seemed okay. Right up until somebody asked a question on the show “What turns a person into an evil bad guy?” The affable black character answered back “When somebody loses the popular vote but wins the Electoral College.”

I turned that shit off right there and will never go back again.

I never watch any “awards” shows. They are just a bunch of pampered rich people who get together to pat themselves and each other on the back, and hand themselves awards. Who should get the awards are the people who sit thru their mostly lousy crap movies, TV shows, and concerts. As for the Academy Awards, who cares what people who pretend to be other people, have to say about anything?

Hell I voted for Romney-Ryan and McCain-Palin in the previous two elections and turned my tv off in early 2008 before either GOP ticket had even been decided because of the Lewinsky (or Barney Frank) job that the kneepad media was giving to Golden Child Barack Hussein Obama Mmmm Mmmm Mmm.

Screw you, MSM.

I tuned out on their BS nearly a decade ago and they’ve only gotten “progressive”-ly worse, I hear.

The Communists in Hollywood had their cultural revolution and buried the past. All glory is for The Party. Everything is political.

At least they didn’t kill the blacklisted performers as happened in Cambodia, Vietnam, and China.

The “Academy Awards” has long lost its appeal and entertainment impact on the overwhelming number of the American people!!! The days of John Wayne, Maureen O’Hara, Clark Gable, Betty Davis, Gary Cooper, Spencer Tracy, Jean Harlow, etc., are long gone. Most folks could care less about the opinions and politics of actors, etc. They are only interested in the acting talents and their production of movie art. End of story!!!

This year the choices for awards are boring and sub-standard by far. It will be a mean nothing evening and year, except for a few nutcases!!! Sad....for such a great industry!!!

And...with the Democrat Party left-wing, now becoming openly anti-Jewish, the film industry will decline even further.....what fools these folks are!!!

Who needs TV anymore, with its leftist bias and sexual perversion? We have Netflix and web sites like FR and Fox on the web. We can even hook them up to our big screens. If conservatives lose this fight, it will be due to perverted TV.

Who in their right mind gives a damn about the “award shows”? Said shows are nothing more than a bunch of non-productive people patting themselves on the back for filtering money away from the mesmerized public.

I taped the Grammys for this reason. I zap through it looking for the performances. (This also saved me most of Beyonce’s time onstage)

The concept of awards shows generally is stupid but awards shows that deal with stuff that is purely subjective and opinion-based are particularly irritating.

I don’t turn them on to be able to turn them off.

I have never liked awards shows.

I don’t care for much of anything determined by judges. I don’t like insiders slapping each other on the back and yucking it up.
