Straight WNBA Star: Lesbian Culture Broke my Spirit
New York Post ^ | February 21, 2017 | Mark W. Sanchez

Candice Wiggins was a college star at Stanford, the third pick of the 2008 WNBA draft and a 2011 champion. And at the mountaintop of her basketball career, her sexuality marred the moment.

There is a “very, very harmful” culture running throughout the WNBA, she says, which saw her get bullied during her eight-year career because she is heterosexual.

Wiggins, who last played in the league in 2015, said she retired prematurely to leave a league that she estimated — wildly — is 98 percent lesbian, and which is played in such isolation that it weighs on the people on the court.

They don’t make money. Subsidized by NBA and ESPN.

"I seriously wonder how this league makes any money."

I don't believe they do. I seem to recall .. and if somebody knows better and correct me, please do .. that the NBA gives them a large amount of monetary support. And it wouldn't surprise me if the WNBA was able to find a way to suck in some government money as well ...

From what I have heard, this prevailing attitude has been
allowed to go on for years, and not just in this women’s sport.

This kind of bullying will not be opposed by the left.

WNBA needs to be replaced by a Professional women’s volleyball league. Women’s volleyball is 10 times more exciting than women’s basketball.

Softball, Basketball, Hockey, Boxing...

Some sports obviously are full of females that literally play for the other team.

Yep. NYT article from 2016 indicates the league receives money from the NBA and of course tv. It questions if the league would survive without help from the NBA money.

She should claim sexual harassment, and sue. God knows everyone else does. I’d say it was a hostile work environment.

This is sad news for girls who are great athletes. Though some sports have mostly straight girls. Gymnastics and figure skating... maybe beach volleyball?

“10 times more exciting than women’s basketball.”

I like womens’ basketball more than men’s because I think the ball should be lobbed into the basket, not slammed through it from above.
