These Senators Opposed Vouchers Backer DeVos But Send Kids To Fancypants Private Schools
Daily Caller ^ | February 21, 2017 | Eric Owens

At least seven of the 46 Senate Democrats who voted against Betsy DeVos, President Donald Trump’s newly-minted education secretary, currently send or once sent On Fridatheir own children or grandchildren to expensive private schools.

DeVos, a long-time school choice advocate from Michigan, was the architect of Detroit’s school charter system and formerly led the Alliance for School Choice advocacy group. She headed the American Federation for Children — which backs school choice for poor and underprivileged families — when Trump nominated her.

When DeVos was nominated, Trump has called school choice “the civil rights issue of our time,” especially for African-American children, who are unequally stuck in some of America’s worst public schools.

The National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers unsuccessfully vowed to defeat DeVos and pressured Democratic senators to vote against her. The two powerful teachers unions have donated lavishly to Democratic campaign war chests.

Sen. Al Franken, a Democrat representing Minnesota who was once an unfunny comedian with bit parts on “Saturday Night Live,” has two children who attend The Dalton School in New York City — 1,018 miles from Minneapolis and 226 miles from Washington, D.C.

The cost of a single year of tuition for students in kindergarten through 12th grade at Dalton is $44,640. This amount, which represents slightly more than the average household income in the state of Alabama

Dalton's administration called off this year’s ice-skating party after a large group of parents refused to send their children to the Trump Wollman Rink in Central Park for political reasons.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat representing Massachusetts, has a granddaughter who rubs shoulders with the children of movie stars at the trendy Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles, California. Tuition at Harvard-Westlake costs $35,900 each year. There’s also a $2,000 fee for new students.

Influential liberals refuse to live anywhere near the communities which are damaged their bone-headed policies.

But, I thought the leftists said she had no experience at all.

There’s a woman out there who lacks self-esteem to the point where she had sex with Al Franken?

Not to mention that 25%-40% of urban public school teachers also send their children to private schools.

We have a young friend who has been a teacher for about 5 years.

We heard her spout off NEA talking point about why she is against De Vos, school choice, etc.

A couple days ago she announced she was leaving her current job to take a position at another school. “So you do support school choice?”

I question some of the facts in the article. As much as I despise Al Franken, according to Wikipedia, his children are grown adults. They may have attended the Dalton school, but they cannot be stupider than their father and still in high school.

I had the chance to run Franken over with my car a year or so ago and chose not to. I’m ashamed.

Franken is a New Yorker. He was born in New York. He moved here to Minnesota when he was in grade school. He attended the Blake School here. Very much a private school. When he was done with high school in 1969 he moved to New York and never returned......until he pretended to be a Minnesotan when he ran for Senator.

Why don’t cabinet nominees expose these hypocrites during their testimonies? It doesn’t have to be harsh or confrontational.

‘As you know, Senator, the public education system is failing our children. You must know that. Otherwise you would not have decided to send your own kids to a private school.’

Get it on the record. Put it on Youtube.

Sen. Bob Casey, a Democrat representing Pennsylvania, sent his daughters to Scranton Preparatory School, a private Jesuit school where a year of tuition costs $13,400. Casey is also an alumnus of Scranton Prep. Every classroom at Scranton Prep offers cutting-edge technology and contains “the very latest in interactive instructional technology.” There’s also a very impressive 34,000-square-foot building dedicated to the arts and sciences which features “state-of-the-art science classrooms and laboratories as well as a magnificent theater that seats 875 people.”

Bob Casey gets a break on this one. That price tag is comparable to the typical Catholic high school in DC, a little lower because the general cost structure in Scranton is lower than DC, but in the ballpark. That is not a fancypants elite school.

For those familiar with Trmup supporters Diamond and Silk, they have a catch-phrase (and a website) for those opposing Donald Trump: “Vote Yo Ass Out”

Latin for “where the God’s go, the cows don’t!”

I guess they didn't want their evil spawn mingling with the children of the unwashed masses who voted for PRESIDENT Trump.

Warren and Franken among them. I’m not shocked at the hypocrisy, just that there were only 7.
