Business owners trading in a market where all their competitors are cutting costs with illegal labor must do likewise, or close up.
It's up to government to see that this situation does not arise.
Prosecute business owners that hire illegals. That will fix a lot of problems.
I own a small construction business, and have been subjected to that exact market economy for the last twelve years or so.
Instead of joining the pack, and going to the dark side like most of our competitors, my wife and I chose to stay straight and legal. We've stuck it out, but have suffered massive losses in income for doing so.
We're not alone, though we are few. I've met lots of other construction pros who've wound up being pushed into the same corner. People like us have been hurt tremendously by the invasion, but we won't aid and abet it by hiring those people, even if it means more money in our pockets. We'd be selling out our country, which we will not do.
I wish the rest of America really understood our story.
simple, prosecute businesses which hire illegals, problem solved.
“Business owners trading in a market where all their competitors are cutting costs with illegal labor must do likewise, or close up.”
This is where across the board enforcement is necessary. The notion that “everybody is doing it, so to remain in business, I have to do it too” has to be dealt with effectively by the Fed Gov.
