I take in feral cats...they have a different morality.

Not bad...just different.

Of course they do. Look at the faces of dogs who know they have done something wrong. They look almost ashamed of themselves.

I have a few people in my neighborhood that are huge liberals and my dogs over the years have always had the hair on their back go up and go into total defensive mode when meeting them on walks.

I miss my dogs so much. They both died last year, and where we live now doesn’t allow pets. :-(

Dogs have better morals than most people I know. I’m mistrustful of people who my dog doesn’t like. I’m also mistrustful of people who don’t like my dog. They’re usually the same

Don’t forget the cats...

I had a cat that acted like the disciplinarian for my other 2 cats.

She would often break up fights between my 2 other cats. The 2 other cats were young and brats and often getting into fights. But, the “motherly” cat, after observing the fights, would seem to decide when “enough is enough” and would jump in and scatter the 2 other cats. Some fights would be short and others lasted longer than the “motherly” cat could tolerate, so, it was only then that she would jump in and break them up.

I miss that cat. She died of cancer 3 years ago. My 2 other cats are still with us, and they still fight, but not as often and not as long as they used to; guess getting older will change their behaviors and energy levels.

Right, their own farts somehow can be an alarming mystery, but they have morality nailed down. I don’t know man.

I’ve read of similar experiments before. One that comes to mind was that they had a group of dogs. They gave treats to all the dogs but one. Eventually, the other dogs stopped taking the treats, or would give them to the one being excluded. I think we make a mistake in thinking that animals don’t ‘reason’. Having been a dog and cat owner most of my life, I’m quite convinced they do. It is different from us, but the ability is there nonetheless. I saw a vid on youtube a few months ago that was an excellent example. A dog was on a dock, and a bunch of fish had been taken out of a well. The dog was doing its best to slash water up on the fish, which were gasping for air, like it knew that was what they needed. It was almost pitiful, seeing how distressed the dog was getting because it wasn’t able to help as much as it wanted.
