We told you last week about New Mexicos House Bill 50, which criminalizes most private firearm transfers by law-abiding gun owners.
Late last week, an even more restrictive committee substitute of the Bloomberg-backed measure passed the House Judiciary Committee and is headed to a vote by the full House. The substitute bill actually erases many of the confusing exceptions from the earlier version and simply requires that any transfer or loan of a firearm lasting more than five days be conducted with a federal background check. In the case of a loan, when the gun is returned, another background check would be required to get it back to its original owner.
As NRA-ILA reported, if you plan to let a friend borrow your rifle for a week-long hunting trip or shooting competition, it would require a trip to an FFL. If you want to provide your girlfriend a handgun for protection while youre gone on an extended business trip, you must get government permission. If you are a military service member who has been deployed and wishes to leave personal firearms with a trusted friend, you would have to go through the same process.

Here, let's just remove ALL confusion - Nothing is allowed without the express permission of we, the government.
What guns?
Criminals get a free pass to obtain firearms, and use them.
Law abiding citizens get disarmed and made easy pickings for armed criminals.
So this is basically the NM armed criminal enabling act. Every single agency of the NM government should be held liable for every single death or injury that occurs from a gunshot, both civil and criminal.
Remember this when Democrats and claim they are pro-gun.

(The denial of original sin is the root of liberalism.)
Jacksonian Demoracts are loving this. They’re going to legally disarm the Indians so that this time they’ll get all the Indian’s land.

It was sent back to committee but is not on the schedule for action at last check. It looks like it may have hit a rough patch after folks started explaining to rural democrats the implications.
Will the governor veto ?
A commenter on an earlier story said "no."
Thanks slim.
That’s disappointing.
Does this affect the guns from the black-bloc of the obama-holder crime cartels fast-n-furious gun clearance sales ? I would like to get a hold of a couple of them in norther NM, but the southern NM folks are hoggimg them.
Article about bills on front page of journal today, interesting info about how much out of state money is involved.
I know the grey bearded gentleman in the picture, his SASS alias is Big Horn and he lives near Founder’s Ranch.
