Comedienne Sarah Silverman went into hysterics on Twitter Sunday after finding Nazi swastikas drawn on the pavement in the town she was visiting.

I remember a few years ago some major manufacturer had a decorative squiggle in their advertising which was considered derogatory (or maybe blasphemous) in the Arab world, and they apologized and changed it. Was it Coke? Memory unreliable here...

There may also be a connection with the swastika’s magical connections, for Hitler and other Nazi leaders were keenly interested in the occult. The swastika adopted by the Nazis is counterclockwise.
