The Secret Slack Group Plotting to Turn Your State Government Blue
Mother Jones ^ | February 13, 2017 | Tim Murphy

Last fall, Rita Bosworth, a public defender in San Francisco, had an epiphany. "I was thinking about how we were choosing between two Democrats for this open Senate seat," she said. Because California's open primary system leaves the possibility that two members of the same party will advance to the general election, state attorney general Kamala Harris faced off against Rep. Loretta Sanchez, in the race to succeed retiring Democrat Barbara Boxer. They combined to spend nearly $20 million on the contest, which Harris won, and "all of it was being directed toward a race where it was liberal vs. more liberal," Bosworth says. "It just struck me that this was silly." There had to be a better use of progressive manpower.

So in late November, Bosworth launched Sister District, a website that helps activists in safe blue areas support candidates in red states and swing districts who could use the help. *** It recently joined forces with another organization with a similar agenda, Flippable...

*** In the age of Trump, coastal progressives such as Bosworth have increasingly come to believe that Democrats are fighting not just nativism, but also geography. In an op-ed for the New York Times three weeks before the election, reporter Alec MacGillis neatly summed up the Democrats' struggles. "Democrats," he wrote, "just don't want to live where they'd need to live to turn more of the map blue." The headline for the story offered a prescription: "If you really want Democrats to win in Iowa, move there." The geographic clustering of liberals in major metropolitan areas and isolated college towns poses a logistical hurdle. How do you convert excess activist energy in one place into organizing power someplace else?

This would be scary except that the snowflakes are loathe to actually move to the blue states, and their $$$ are dwarfed by the Koch family.

LOL. They’ve done such a good job so far. Remember the group that was formed about 10 years ago that was going to “turn Texas Blue”? We’re still waiting for that one. All these liberal groups that are going to turn Red states Blue are like bar stool drunks. They’re always “going” to do something but never quite get around to doing it. The biggest, most dramatic change of a state over the past 5 to 10 years is the transformation of West Virginia’s elected officials to mostly Republicans.

That’s what immigrants are for, not the lilly white ruling class. They will rule from the coasts. This is why I advocate taking apart Washington D.C. and sending individual agencies to second tier cities in the 50 states. The ruling class doesn’t want to live there, and so they will leave to get jobs in New York or San Francisco.

Actually Democrats are steadily moving to conservative areas and over the decades are ruining them all. They started many years ago in Vermont, they have made huge inroads in Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia, Colorado and other western states where they exodus California. Texas — very different than 30 years ago. Look at Oregon and Washington state. I have seen it even in areas like Tennessee. They are poison, or more aptly, cancer.

I don’t think these snowflakes will move enmasse for political purposes. They would not survive anywhere but where they are now.

exactly
imagining them trying to riot in Alabama? What a wake up called that would be. They tried a small protest outside of Graham’s house in SC until some redneck teens came by in pickups and threw water balloons filled with ice water at them. Cry babies called the police.

Wrong. I see many jobs in many states that I would have only found in New York 10 years ago even.

They are actually doing pretty well.
They turned Colorado blue, and have turned Virginia and North Carolina purple.
If the can turn Florida and/or Ohio, we’ll be screwed.

"...Democrats," he wrote, "just don't want to live where they'd need to live to turn more of the map blue..."

The obverse of this is far more true. One can make the argument in this way simply by charting the movement of people from Blue States to Red States. I believe it would be no-contest.

Actually, they are even more aptly locusts. The cancer dies with the host. Locusts destroy everything in sight, then move to greener pastures

With the liberals, it's always, "If we only could have presented out message better or more often, then we would have won."

Obama does it, Hillary does it, all liberals do it, never thinking it might be the message itself, but the way in which they sell their message or the number of times before people go for the message, is the problem.

Never once do these idiots stop and think, that their message sucks, everybody gets it and they just don't like it.

Here in California, Democrats (SoCalled Liberals) are the most intolerant and bigoted people in the US. It’s hard living here as I have to keep my mouth shut, and not say anything or I am “branded” as Hater and Misogynist or some other stupid label. Democrats love labels and names that divide and isolate people, putting them in categories where they can control and vent their hatred towards. Yes the Democrats want complete control, just as the Nazi Party wanted complete control in Germany. or the Communist party wanted complete control in Russia and North Korea. The Democrats are no different than those groups. I’ll bet that 20 million spent (I’ll bet it was more like 100 million) that money could have repaired the Oroville Dam Spillway and we wouldn’t be having the emergency we are having now
