Facebook's Immigration Lobbying Arm: FWD.us

In 2013, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg launched an immigration reform lobbying group called FWD.us. The staff of FWD.us was initially led by Joe Green, a college friend of Zuckerberg and the inventor of a Facebook philanthropy-giving app, who had previously worked on John Kerry's Presidential campaign. In September 2014, Green's lack of success at achieving immigration reform led him to be replaced by Todd Schulte, who had previously served as chief of staff at Obama re-election Super PAC Priorities USA Action, which is led by Hillary Clinton 2008 campaign political director Guy Cecil and includes David Brock on its board of directors. Brock, with input from Hillary Clinton and support from wealthy Democratic Party donors, is currently leading an effort to impeach Donald Trump. Facebook's lobbying for immigration reform supports the company's dependence on employees with temporary H-1B visas, estimated to form 15 percent of Facebook's staff. Microsoft CEO Bill Gates and other tech industry leaders also support FWD.us.
