Can the local jail charge room and board for these illegals while they sit and wait for a trial? If so, leave them there forever. Question is, who would actually pay the bill?
The solution is to deport them and let them engage in legal proceedings in US courts from Mexico via Skype or teleconferencing

I am not suggesting this, just pointing it out. In Saudi Arabia if your family doesn’t pay for your food, you starve.
the reason they prefer detention here is they get three squares and cable, as well as a nice, clean place to sleep. Mexico is so poor that many people live in dirt floored huts and eat whatever they can scrounge. Those are the ones who prefer detention here. (For the most part, they have no skills and don’t even speak English.)
Ultimately, you, me and everybody else the government can rob.
PUT THEM TO WORK AND FEED THEM BOLOGNA SAMMICHES.

Free meals, air conditioning, medical care, a place to sleep, and relative safety too.
