President Donald Trump has squashed Eliot Abrams’ hopes of being picked for a crucial State Department post.

Abrams had emerged as a possible contender for Deputy Secretary of State, it was reported on Monday, and even met with Trump to discuss the position, according to Politico.

Trump, however, reportedly vetoed Abrams’ appointment after learning Abrams had been a vocal critic during the campaign. Abrams, a Republican Establishment neoconservative, was incredibly hostile toward Trump’s campaign and its America first message.

“This was Donald Trump’s thin skin and nothing else,” a Republican source reportedly told Politico.

But it’s not difficult to see why Trump might not have the strongest desire to give such a man the number-two position in the State Department

Lies! He met with him out of courtesy as he did with many so-called enemies. He didn’t want a neo-con in the house.

I can see Elliot Abrams drooling at the mouth wanting to send our soldiers to fight everywhere in the 80’s, the 90’s, the oughts - Praise Him that it won’t ever happen again.

“This was Donald Trump’s thin skin and nothing else,” a Republican source reportedly told Politico.

Said the thin-skinned Republican source who wasn't even man enough to have his name publicized. Perhaps he eats eats too man chicken tenders? After all, you are what you eat.

By the way, if you read the article, it’s pretty obvious that Paul Ryan was the source - not exactly a WH insider. This is Laura Ingraham’s magazine.

Indeed.

It is not thin skin on Trumps part. It is his wisdom and sixth sense. Abraham is a disaster

Neocons don’t need to be anywhere near the Trump administration...

let them suffer in the dry desolate #NeverTrump land of woe...

Neocons are disturbingly strange and useless. It wasn’t President Trump’s “thin skin”. It was his good judgement and his love of Free America.

Abrams is a NEOCON who wants to go to WAR with anyone anytime! The ‘thin skin” reference was in the article.

“This was Donald Trump’s thin skin and nothing else,” a Republican source reportedly told Politico. Thin skin? Seems to me the height of stupidity to place someone who actively is against you and your policies in a position of power like that.

Good to block people who were never-Trumpers. But we need to get over the habit of thinking that all discussion ends simply by saying “neocon.” Sure, there’s no case for shunning Russia, deposing Syrian leader Asad, or having deposed the Libyan leader Kadaffi. But is it really beyond the pale to have favored the first Gulf war, which kept a dictator from controlling the entire Middle East?

I read the article and I got the sense that it was Rand Paul who was the source.
