Rahm may be a horses blank, and a big baby, given his propensity towards babyish behavior such as stabbing a table with a steak knife and pretending to kill political enemies. But he is being realistic with his Democrat buddies.
The Democrat party has become increasingly liberal. Most people just aren’t that liberal in the “flyover” states.
Does everyone know that Hillary got only 50 electoral votes from states in the interior of America?? The vast majority of her support came from Pacific coast and Northeast liberal enclaves. The vast majority of the country is just not that liberal.
Where are the Scoop Jackson and Sam Nunn Democrats today? Anyone like that today in the Democrat party???
He’s right. When Obama ran in 2008, Obama was the leader of a warm, happy party slightly to the left of Republicans (at least to most). It quickly became what we already knew it was - a party of rabid chirping hellbeasts.
All the oxygen in the room has long since been breathed up by the Clinton and Obama “legacy” supporters, and there has been no active “farm team” for growing the future leaders of the Democrat party. The Democrats are, at best, a regional party, not a national party, and is well demonstrated while looking at the electoral college maps, with a number of little scattered “blue” enclaves, while the “red” portion is nearly contiguous.
Rahm Emanuel can be, at times, uncommonly perceptive. Not that this perception is of any use to the Democrats for the foreseeable future.
2018 is going to be a BLOODBATH for Democrats, who will move under 40 votes in the Senate. And unhinged serial liar Elizabeth Warren is their “top prospect” for 2020. Who is she going to run with, Cory Booker? Trump will nab 3-6 additional blue states in his re-election.
Rahm is not too worried; he knows Chicago is forever secure for the left.

Sam Nunn’s daughter moved to the left in 2014 and got “skunked” in Jimmuh Carter’s GA.
Please stop saying that the Dems are liberal - they’re not, not anymore. Liberals were like my 9th grade Social Studies teacher (a former Playboy Playmate, btw), who said that while she might disagree with what I say, she’d defend to her last breath my right to say it. Today’s Dems aren’t like that at all - they WANT to shut us up, it is their GOAL.
They are Leftists, not liberals. Think Mensheviks (i.e. just slightly less brutal and aggressive than Bolsheviks, just with a little less realistic outlook on what’ll be necessary to implement their “workers’ paradise”).
People like Truman, Scoop Jackson, Sam Nunn, Hubert Humphrey, JFK, etc. - they’re not allowed in the Dem Party these days - those folks become Senator from Maine, Arizona or New Hampshire (i.e. RINOs).
House Representative Tulsi Gabbard is the only one who comes close that I can think of.

Rahm is the only person in Obama’s inner circle who ever came close to criticizing him. I don’t recall the specific less-than-complimentary remarks Rahm made. I just remember thinking it very interesting that the only non-rump-smoocher in Obama’s WH ended up in Chicago.
The left has to look inward, and reevaluate itself, and be willing to change for the better.
Since, the left is virtually incapable of looking inward, or modifying it’s behavior or evaluating itself honestly the real concern is what will they do to out do themselves?
Domestic terrorism? Assassinations?
While most are cowards they seem to be appealing to the lone crazies who will actually do what they can only wish for.
