The other thing they don’t mention is that under single-payer, the first thing the bean counters look to cut is R & D. The American health care system leads the world because of its heavy commitment to improving the standard of care through aggressive research, much of which is privately funded. Go to single payer and the standard of care is permanently frozen.

Explain that to a cancer patient who is holding out hope for a new cure.

Our pre-Obamacare helthcare apparatus was deemed a failure by many. Obamacare is deemed a failure by many.

No scheme succeeds in providing “good” healthcare to all human beings. To put it another way, any scheme put forth will have many critics.

From all I’ve read in the past few years, one major problem with the UK NHS, for example, - and I suspect this also holds for some of the other countries mentioned - is that there are hundreds of thousands to millions of “new arrivals” who have never contributed *one single cent* to the health services they make generous use of.

That, of course, is wholly unsustainable. That is to say, it’s not the concept as such that fails, but the way it is implemented. Just look at the following for a good laugh:

Now *that* is a straight path to bankruptcy.

Similar in the US with all those “anchor-throwers” and other illegals.
