Rome (AFP) - Italian police were on the hunt Monday for the authors of anti-pope posters which have been slapped around Rome, amid suspicions the campaign may be linked to an arch-conservative wing of the Catholic Church.
Dozens of the illegal fliers appeared mysteriously around the Italian capital Saturday picturing a stern-looking Pope Francis, a list of accusations against him, and the words "Where's your mercy?" -- turning the pontiff's call for a more merciful church back on him.

no free speech in the popes kingdom.....

I guess all those cases of migrants raping and sexually harassing Italian women have been solved if the police can now focus their attention on finding who put up posters criticizing the Pope.

So, calling out the Pope but, not threatening him is illegal?
That makes the state a religious actor....

Most buildings in Rome are blighted with spray paint graffiti . The cops there should try doing something about that.

Well, it is Italy after all. They’re still having problems with that religious freedom thingie, it wasn’t law there until 1984, and state still isn’t separated from church.

Nice to know that all the murders, rapes, and robberies in Rome have been solved so they have time for this manhunt.

Jack Chick lives!LOL!
But these posters apparently were Pope Francis specific, so Jack probably wasn't involved in these after-life activities.

An “Inquisition” is an investigation, specifically to see whether Catholics have fallen away from Church doctrine. That’s just what Pope Francis *doesn’t* want, I fear: lest he be found to be the guilty party.

No need to bring in the graffiti. Compare apples to apples: when I lived in Rome a few years ago, these sorts of posters (for various political causes) were a common sight. They happen.
While I’m not sure if that was legal or not, there is something different here, and that something is the Pope.
