1 in 5 city residents in Los Angeles are illegal immigrants
Sanctuary cities receive over $27 billion each year from the federal government, giving President Donald Trump significant leverage over cities such as New York and San Francisco to enforce immigration law, according to a new report.
OpenTheBooks.com identified 106 sanctuary cities in the United States in their oversight report, released Friday. In all, cities that ignore federal law by harboring illegal immigrants are receiving $27.741 billion in grants and direct payments in fiscal year 2016.
Twenty-two percent of the roughly 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States live in just 12 American cities, according to the report. Those cities, which include New York, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, received $15.983 billion in federal funds.

What about sanctuary towns?
Are towns in the mix with cities, or are they a different animal, vis-a-vis sanctuary entities - just a tad smaller in most cases.
There are some differences that might be at issue - cities run by mayors, and towns run by selectman and town meeting.
Take the 26$ billion from the sanctuary cities and use it to build said wall.
They need to declare that those who declare as “sanctuaries”, lose their funding FOR A MINIMUM OF ONE YEAR, not just until they say, “I’m sorry”.
So the real reason they are sanctuary cities is the illegal aliens are cash cows.
The liberals have been able to rake in the Fed money with illegal aliens.
$27 billion for “sanctuary cities”. $10 billion for the UN. Throw in the EPA budget and pretty soon the savings will amount to some real money.
Well, that will pay for the wall in 6 months. Its all savings from that point on.
