APPEARS IN News

Tuesday, January 31, 2017

Fairfax, Va.— The National Rifle Association (NRA) applauds the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to fill Justice Antonin Scalia’s seat on the United States Supreme Court.

“President Trump has made an outstanding choice in nominating Judge Gorsuch for the U.S. Supreme Court. He has an impressive record that demonstrates his support for the Second Amendment,” said Chris W. Cox, Executive Director, NRA-ILA. “We urge the Senate to swiftly confirm Judge Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, just as it did in confirming him to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit by a unanimous voice vote.”

During his tenure on the Tenth Circuit, Gorsuch has demonstrated his belief that the Constitution should be applied as the framers intended. To that end, he has supported the individual right to self-defense. Specifically, he wrote in an opinion that "the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to own firearms and may not be infringed lightly."

“On behalf of our five million members, the NRA strongly supports Judge Neil Gorsuch's confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court. We will be activating our members and tens of millions of supporters throughout the country in support of Judge Gorsuch. He will protect our right to keep and bear arms and is an outstanding choice to fill Justice Scalia's seat,” concluded Cox.

I call BS on the NRA, first off they are a Political Organization with a Goal of protecting the Rightr to Keep and Bear Arms without being infringed, so they say.

But if that is true, why were they NOT Involved in Heller?? and why are they NOT Involved in this case:

http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3519392/posts

Marc Stephens, representing himself, argues he has a Constitutional right under the Second and Fourteenth amendments to keep and bear arms at home and in public, which the state of New Jersey has denied him even though he has had multiple death threats. His petition is set to be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court in its Feb. 17 conference but has been winding its way through the legal system since 2013.

This guy REPRESENTING HIMSELF. managed to Get all the WAY to the supreme Court using the Argument that ALL GUN CONTROL LAWS are rooted in Racism. He Apparently Made His CAse and if the USSC makes a Judicial Determination that Gun Control Laws were and are rooted in Racism, they could very easily wipe out ALL Gun LAWS Nationwide.

This would eliminate the need for the NRA, tell me again about how they support Americans right to keep and bear arms??

He seems like an excellent choice. I do hope in the confirmation hearing he will clarifiy what he means by the “may not be infringed lightly” part of his opinion. Hope it doesn’t mean the RKBA can be infringed if it’s not done lightly. I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt, but after being burned by Roberts on Obamacare, I’m not taking anything for granted anymore.

The NRA habitually rides the coattails of others. If we were to ever get the 1934, 1968, and 1986 acts struck down by the court, they'd lose their reason to exist, and thus their jobs.
