That’s what the law used to be. Immigrants had to have a sponsor and were not allowed to go on the welfare “assistance” rolls.

>> “households headed by aliens are much more likely than those headed by citizens to use federal means-tested public benefits,” another claim The Washington Post noted is not supported by evidence.

I have read a LOT of statistics that DO support this claim. Why can the WaComPost not find those stats? I say their claim that it is not supported by evidence is not supported by evidence.

I cannot believe this is "controversial".

It is just common sense.

It's the same for Canada and Australia, and a lot of other countries.

No job? No money? Nothing to contribute to our country?

Sorry, mate, can't take ya.

What kind of stupid policy would let just any mooch or leech into their country without question?

Ironically, the law still is that. My sister married a British guy, and my other sister married an Italian, so I'm familiar with it.

Even though they were marrying Americans, I had to sponsor them, pass a financial means test, and guarantee that they would not be a burden on society.

It's one of the more infuriating things; legal immigrants are penalized, and illegal immigrants are rewarded.
