Google has donated $2 million to refugee causes and hopes its employees will match the gift in response to Donald Trump's travel ban. Wonder if this action is consistent with the goals of the shareholders?

Did they donate a similar amount to refugees under the Obama administration?

Great, if taxpayer money goes to any of those, we can cut by a like amount. Get the progressives to pay for their own programs.

I encourage every Google executive to invite several refugee families to make permanent homes in their estates. To do otherwise would be heartless. Oh, and no vetting; accept all comers.

“Wonder if this action is consistent with the goals of the shareholders?”

I think it was the CEO of Starbucks who said, “You either support (gay marriage?) or you can sell our stock.” I suspect that is the attitude across the board. People like the CEO of Target simply don’t care about the company or the stockholders. They are social justice warriors out to change the world into their utopian image. As long as stockholders and institutional investors put up with this, it will continue.

Just like the millions given to Jill Stein. Liberals and their money are easily parted.

I wonder how much President Trump can get them to flush down the commode over the next four years.

Since when do companies like google, apple, starbucks, microsoft, etc. set and conduct foreign policy? They should be prosecuted.

Keep in mind that one of google's founders (sergey brin) is a russkie.

I think the google boys are worth $100 Billion.

They are donating $2 million.

That’s .02% of their worth.

Gee, boys, don’t knock yourselves out.

LOL. $4 million to Google is the equivalent of you or me writing a $50.00 check. So compassionate.

“Since when do companies like google, apple, starbucks, microsoft, etc. set and conduct foreign policy? They should be prosecuted. “

This is probably a free speech issue. However, if they donate to listed terrorist organizations like CAIR they may get prosecuted. CAIR, through political pull has gotten itself removed from a list of terrorist supporting organizations and I don’t know what their present status is. Donors, though, need to be sensitive unless they want huge fines and millions in legal fees. Whether this happens to Google depends on whether they ran the donation through the legal department or they just wrote a check and sent it off. One would think they’d be careful, but then, again, this appears to be intended as a shoot-from-the-hip “protest” against Trump rather than a considered, careful action.

I don’t use Google and won’t for a variety of reasons, including the fact that they had a lot of privacy issues with the EU and US government.

I’ve used bing for years and really like it.
