Ask them to set a special election date for their sole representative in Washington and any who don’t wish to compete for the slot can pack up and move out of their offices in the House and Senate.

*************

It will be interesting to see how California’s two senators and all 53 representatives feel about giving up their cushy careers in Washington, DC and going back home to live in anonymity without all the pay, prestige and perks. Something tells me they are going to look REAL HARD to tamp this down and find a way to keep their seats.

And what do we suppose success, or even a serious attempt in that venture would do to California’s credit rating? Does not California need to borrow large sums from time to time?

This is hardly a “A FANTASTIC PRECEDENT”

Back when “Thou shall do only 55” was a fed law, NV pretty much gave the Feds *the finger*. Speeders were given a low-dollar, no point “Energy Waster” ticket. (Ya, I got one as well).

This enraged the drones at the FDoT and they threatened to cut off NV highway funding.

Nevada’s answer was to say they would collect Fed gas taxes and spend them locally - who needs the DoT?

The DoT shut up. At least they knew when they were beaten.

CA. has 55 electoral votes.

There is NO way DC will allow it, CA. leaving would instantly mean a string of GOP victories.

Libs THINK the resistance will come from righties, they couldn’t be more wrong.

Maybe they should ask South Carolina how things turned out after 1861.

California thinks that you will still owe but California will take charge of the funds and put them in Escrow from which California will borrow all of it.

“They have not really thought this plan through”
I’m with you on that. When the genius officials who dreamed this up realize that they are potentially personally accountable and can. E given prison time...I think they’ll reconsider.

I can’t imagine the DNC is too happy about this. If their biggest electoral vote state leaves the union, they’ll never win another national election

They don't need to leave the union, just revert to territorial status.

Looking at the red/blue county map, blue zones seem more like reservations. Once they are de-stateified, run them from the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

and direct DoD to move their activities and ships out.

And reassign all U.S. Coast Guard assets to other places. California has an 840 mile coastline. Imagine what that kind of wide open access to the state would mean.

“If California confiscates my IRS and SS withholdings, who pays my tax bill on April 15? If I cannot pay twice, do I go to jail? Sorta fun watching liberal heads exploding.”

The fallacy of their idea is that the money flows from employers directly to the feds. Employers don’t send withholding and FICA to the state, which gets forwarded to the feds.

The ONLY employees that would be affected would be state employees. The state could choose to keep the withholding and FICA in their coffers. But that screws the individuals, not the feds. The individuals still owe that money to the federal government.

These are empty threats and childish tantrums. So fun to watch.

The only question I have is: Do these people believe what they are saying, or are they doing it to look strong for their voters... while knowing they have no power whatsoever?

They will cut their own necks to spite Trump.

***************

One can only marvel at this level of insanity. Right off the bat millions of productive people and businesses will leave the state. This would be the last straw.
