All talk of “high-tech fence” is BS.
The Berlin Wall worked.
A Southern Border Wall will work.
All else is BS.
And by the way, the Berlin Wall was a prison wall keeping people locked inside, denying them freedom.
A Southern Border Wall will be an anti-invasion barrier similar to the Great Wall of China, protecting a people from invasion.
(The problem with the Great Wall of China was that it wasn’t good enough to overcome the technological superiority of the invaders of the day.)
There are places where a Berlin Wall would work but there are other areas the terrain makes it impossible. Can't build a Berlin Wall down the middle of the Rio Grande River. If you build it on our side, the US cities and land owners lose their drinking water, cattle and farms. Then there are the mountainous areas which would coast boatloads of money to build a Berlin Wall. The "wall" has to be a combination of wall types.
The Berlin wall only worked because there were riflemen standing ready to shoot anybody trying to climb it. No wall will work, unless there are unacceptable consequences imposed for trying to defeat it.
Big difference is the wall enforcers there had ROE to shoot to kill. Unless we have an active mine-field, we won't have that level of enforcement.
I agree...No high tech or virtual fence...Must be an Israeli style physical barrier, and well guarded...As in armed troops...Rotate the NGs of the border states for their mandatory once-a-month if necessary, but guard it...Signage on Mexican side “Fuerza letal autorizada”, and turn invaders around at gunpoint...
I’ve been referring to “the wall” as an “anti-invasion barrier” and the Libs of my acquaintance hate it...Take back control of the language...
So I propose we adopt the term...
Build the wall...Build it tall...
