Congressional Republicans worry about Obamacare repeal and replacement fallout, new recording shows

Talking about getting rid of Obamacare was easy — now Republicans are sweating over actually doing it.

A recording of a meeting of Congressional Republicans reveals their doubts, concerns and worries over how to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and how to replace that health-care reform law, the Washington Post reported Friday.

The recording underscored the fact that while Obamacare has been popular for many people, it also has led to insurance for millions of Americans whose loss of it would generate political fallout, the report said.

"We'd better be sure that we're prepared to live with the market we've created" with Obamacare repeal, said Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Calif, according to the Post article.

"That's going to be called Trumpcare. Republicans will own that lock, stock and barrel, and we'll be judged in the election less than two years away."

I'd love to know who the Republican was who recorded the conversation and then fed it to the media.

I didn’t think of that. That ####. Anyone can be bought, especially in congress.

THEY DONT LEARN.

I wanted to clobber my sister 18 months ago when she said “we have to put up someone who can win, like bush or rubio”

I said #### THAT!! A REAL conservative will win every time!

She relented and loves Trump now.

The republicans could have 60 seats in two years!!

If they stay the course.

They’re like the apostles on the boat when the waves started to get bad.

Suddenly they lost all faith in Jesus.

I’m not comparing Trump to Jesus but you get the point :)

Trust the guy!!! He knows what he’s doing!!

If they can’t or won’t repeal it, they should be forced into the lousy system.

****Talking about getting rid of Obamacare was easy — now Republicans are sweating over actually doing it. *****

It’s called ‘decision making’.

We talk about ‘buying a house’. The selection, financing, remodeling and moving are the hard decisions and take effort, time and agreement.

What a bunch of bull. Journalists only know one skill - how to talk about something. They don’t build or improve anything. Just words!!!!!!!

They’re just going to have to do a better job of OPSEC. In classified meetings/briefings cell phones, wireless devices, etc. aren’t allowed. The Republicans are going to have to start taking the opposition seriously - even the RINOs like McCain and Graham.

We can only hope. But it's likely that instead of just repealing Obamacare and leaving it at that, the Republicans will enact their own disaster. There is nothing the government can do with healthcare coverage that won't make things worse. You would think that Obamacare would have made that clear. But it doesn't look like it.

Oh boo hoo. The fake news media can scream about this all they want....it is UNREMARKABLE that legislators talk about the effect of their actions.

The repeal and replace WILL HAPPEN, and the media is POWERLESS to stop that event.

Another thing to consider: if the audio had NOT revealed this discussion, the fake news media would have said “Republicans Do Not Express Concern About Death Panels Law replacement”!

The media is being played.

If the majority is simply allowed to exist in the public market-place, without the mandate, it will be better.

If Trump can find a way to cut the cost of the Medicaid end of it, that will be better also.

What a lot of us have a hard time coming to terms with, is that the government has been the provider for those unable to pay, for decades.

If we cut the cost of providing that care, it’s better than we have been doing.

I will say, that if a young to middle-aged person opted not to obtain coverage when they could have, I’d have very little sympathy if they suddenly needed care.

We all have to bite the bullet and obtain coverage. None of us are thrilled to have to make insurance payments, but it’s what responsible people do.

Repeal Obamacare and I agree that the market will eventually sort things out and make coverage more affordable.

If Trump can find a way to cut the cost of the Medicaid end of it, that will be better also.

Repeal the Medicaid expansion that Obamacare funded. That would cut costs right away, and about half the states refused to participate anyway.

The GOP has an internal security issue and needs to find the leaker. Wouldn’t be surprised if it is one of the old guard or their staff that was in the room. This leak is intended to slowdown or stop the repeal effort.

The repeal you speak of isn’t as great as you might think.

If an indigent shows up at an E.R., the government winds up picking up the tab.

Hospitals cannot turn a person away. They can’t give free care. The government steps in.

Any hospital that refuses emergency treatment, will lose the ability to bill Medicare fees. They can’t risk that exposure.
