For those who don’t know, the senate will adjourn at EOB today until next Monday. This is because the Republicans are all gathering in a Pennsylvania “retreat” from Wednesday to Friday.
This is *not* a vacation. It is going to be an *intense*, 3 day planning session (under high security), and it is traditionally done at this time. When they emerge, all the Republicans will be prepped, coordinated, have a strategic plan of action, with minimal mess and fuss.
Monday and the rest of the week are going to be special.
The amount of preparation by staff for this retreat is pretty staggering. There will probably be a whole bunch of simple majority floor votes in both the house and senate, then the bills will be sent to a hand picked conference committee that will put on final touches and corrections, then back to the house and senate for another simple majority vote. Then off to the White House for President Trump’s signature.
And the Democrats can go pound sand.
I really hope that several conservative commentators are keeping copious notes next week, because we’re not going to hear about any of it from the MSM.
I’ll take your word for it. It’s inevitable that portions of Obamacare must be repealed and replaced in Congress. That is always fraught with peril. With all the money up for grabs, there is great potential for graft and other mischief.
“As a new head of HHS, perhaps no quality will be more needed than patience.”
The Republicans should set a goal of April 15th, 2017 for legislative action as far as PPACA replacement.
Insurers will need a few months to build plans with doctors, hospitals and drug makers signed up.
The plans need to be ready for sale October 1st.
Trumpcare coverage should begin January 1, 2018.
Precisely
Yeah, but I bet you it gets deducted from their social security check. I am as a senior citizen on medicare and Social security and so is my husband. We are both on Tri care for life so that saves us on prescription cost. Neither he or I have gotten any raises in our social security checks but our cost for medicare has gone up. For my husband even more than myself. So don’t tell me that retirees are not paying for it.
Medicare part D premiums cover 25% of the cost of the program. The rest comes from the general revenue fund, not the Medicare trust fund. Since the government was already running a general fund deficit when this was passed, the program is funded by additional debt.
“Financing for Part D comes from general revenues (76%), beneficiary premiums (14%), and state contributions (10%).9. The monthly premium paid by enrollees is set to cover 25.5% of the cost of standard drug coverage. Medicare subsidizes the remaining 74.5%.”

I was trying to multitask at the time. I don[t do that so well..
I do understand your reasoning but let’s hope he’s a fast learner.
How does this end? Is there any way the Democrats can be forced to stop this nonsense? How long do they get to keep on having hearings? This really makes me mad. I hope Freepers who live in blue states tell their senators to knock this off.
I hope people who have the goods on dem and GOPe senators give the info to Trump’s people.
