President Trump's White House sent a clear message to major media outlets on Monday: You don't matter as much anymore.
The White House for years has deferred to newswires and major TV networks, all of whom are represented in the first row of the White House briefing room, for the first several questions at the daily briefing. But on Monday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer called on very different group of reporters.
He first called on the New York Post. Then, the Christian Broadcasting Network. That was followed by Univision and Fox Business.
Spicer then took a question from Urban Radio Network, and then finally the Associated Press, which up until now has usually gotten the first question.

The unprecedented decision ruffled the feathers of some.

If Trump isn’t careful, all these media folk are going to vote democrat.
Oh, wait...
MSM
Media
Sadly
Missing
...the respect they destroyed.
Will it work?
All those ruffled feathers! There must have been a few eggs laid as well.
The Times, they are a’changing.
He also announced that he would include "Skype seats" in the briefing so reporters not located in Washington can ask questions.
Please understand my frame of reference here — I was a reporter for 25 years, now happily retired.
I’m several degrees beyond thrilled to see the hacks who are disgracing my profession get treated with the disdain they deserve.
One dirty secret about the news business is the complete lack of collegiality among journalists. Or to put it another way — we all hate each other.
Here’s how it works — if you’re from a smaller news organization, you can count on being patronized by any journalist from a larger one.
In MLB terms, my career topped out at AA ball. Still, you use the same skills. And in many respects, professional standards are higher. None of the managing editors I worked under would allow anonymous sources, with the rarest of exceptions.
If the Slimes or the Compost were to adopt such a rule, their press run would consist of their nameplate, the ads, and white space where the news copy would normally be.
They’re not on probation..
They’re suspended.
Skrew ‘em.
This time they didn’t bother to try to disguise their bias; they openly picked a candidate. There will be consequences.
Rehabilitating the MSM is not Trump’s goal. Neither is punishing them. He only seeks to make them irrelevant and strip them of their power to manipulate the public.
More winning!!
Then boil it down to a seven second sound bite that makes Trump look as bad as possible.
Their lies are now widely known. This will accelerate the extinction of their profession.
Or worse, they might commit the cardinal sin of journalism and let their politics leak into their stories.
Oh wait...
Reminds me of the relationship between Plainview and Eli Sunday in “There Will be Blood.”
And skew the news against Trump and even fabricate new... oh, wait.
The right leaning media will ask the substantive questions that Americans want to know!
