Let me try again.

We have a 20,000,000,000 dollar debt. The Government, who never created a single stick of gum worth of profit, does not have the money to spend on “research”.

While I am sure to someone the sex life of red eyed frogs is important, the fact that a third of our nations working men are out of work might have precedence over such important work.

You personally owe 167,000 bucks. Now, go start a business and make a profit with that as your starting capitol.

Oh wait, that’s a minus isn’t it. Hmmmm, someone else already spent your capitol, and then some. Gee, how are you going to pay your taxes?

See how it all ties together? In the name of “important research” money is taken from the productive part of society and spent by the non productive part of society. If research like treasure could be bought, anybody could get rich hiring someone to go prospect for gold. But finding gold, or treasure or research is not a given thing is it?

It has a lot to do with cost effectiveness, motive and drive. That is why you will never see a forest ranger in the deep out back, and always be able to find a dozen in the local office clustered around the coffee pot.

In a timber business you will never see a dozen employees clustered around a free coffee pot. They HAVE to make a PROFIT to keep their JOBS.

Guess who produces more and works harder for a dollar?

A government anything does NOT.

Basic scientific research is a very good place for the Government to invest some $. That said there needs to be financial discipline and a lean managerial staff.

Basic science was already cut way back a decade or more ago as grants dried up in favor of climate change & support for the soft sciences both of which is only a way to swallow dollars and promote a social agenda. Hopefully the grant priorities will be realigning with National interest.

Don’t defund Planned Parenthood. Let Sessions go after them for selling baby parts and jail the President tehn make it illegal for them to perform abortions. Finally, cut the funding for that percentage of their business that has to do with abortions.

It would create too much of a backlash to just cut it altogether for no apparent reason.

Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which runs PBS and supports shows like Sesame Street,

Fake news. Sesame Street is financed by HBO.

There are 50 years of reruns for Sesame Street. That oughta do it.

Kinda the way I look at it, too. It's all new to a three year old, and they're still spelling words (FR - EE - FREE!" exactly the same way I learned them, a million years ago.

Exactly.

1.2 Billion is a near unfathomable amount of money.

I worked for an international company, with three hundred or so full-time employees. Revenues were 40 million, or so, a year.

So, if 40 million can provide a livelihood for 300 people, with a good amount of profit left over .... think about what 1.2 Billion could do.

Since I worked inside a government funded outfit, I know firsthand the waste which takes place. However, no one is going to do basic science research except tax payer supported government. That said, no one is more aware of national debt than me. If you check my posting history, it will become obvious. I hate debt, have no debt, and do not plan taking on debt. I buy my houses and cars with cash. If I do not have enough cash to buy, I just wait until there is enough to pay cash. All the money I have saved over 55 years of adulthood is amazing. No mortgage payments ever! No car payments ever!!

So I agree that gov’t funded research has to take a back seat over reduction of national debt.

I had a soft spot left for PBS until I saw this:
I was looking for more info on the PBS time-lapse deception and found more here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/The_Donald/comments/5ph3aj/proof_real_inauguration_crowd_size_vs_fake_news/?st=iy9qz7cd&sh=e4ff0881
Where’s the missing footage?
Doesn’t that missing “Public” Broadcast footage belong to us?

The DOE is almost $30 billion a year.

I also work for a company that does less than $20 million a year and is profitable and employs over 100 people with good wages, insurance and a 401K.

Imagine how much good the dollars wasted on the DOE and the $60 BILLION dollars wasted on the education department where sent back to the citizens to use as they see fit.

Closing those 2 departments would save over a trillion dollars over the next decade.

Wonder if CPB/NPR/PBS will suddenly publicize that they’re doing more ‘balanced’ programming...

Public broadcasting’s roots are progressive/socialist. From day one. Same as the pubic school teachers’ NEA became.

GO TRUMP!!!
