In an interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC's "This Week," Donald Trump's senior adviser Kellyanne Conway attempted to put the issue of Trump's tax returns to bed by declaring unequivocally that he will not release the documents.
Stephanopoulos asked Conway about the White House's response to 100,000 people petitioning the White House for Trump to release his full tax returns "with all information needed to verify emoluments clause compliance."
"The White House response is that he's not going to release his tax returns. We litigated this all through the election. People didn't care. They voted for him," said Conway.
Conway went on to suggest that the American people want Trump to lower taxes, not to release his own tax returns.
"Let me make this very clear. Most Americans are very focused on what their tax returns will look like while President Trump is in office, not what his look like," said Conway.
Contrary to Conway's claims, an ABC News/Washington Post poll released on Monday found that 74% of Americans say Trump should release his tax returns.
Additionally, a December poll indicated that 65% of Americans were at least "somewhat concerned" about Trump's conflicts of interest.
Conway pointed to the Trump family's efforts to eliminate conflicts of interest between Trump's business empire and his standing as president, which experts have questioned.

I hope and pray that Trump puts all of the alphabet media in the back of the room when there is a press conference. That or outside the room when he is having a press conference.
Release of taxes is not required by the Constitution....probably because those lucky Founders had no income tax. In fact, taxing income is unconstitutional, so the government would not want to litigate that embarrassing little matter.
I was scanning through the TV channels this AM and landed on CNN just in time to see one of four panelists declare that Trump was breaking the law by not releasing his taxes. I immediately turned it off. More fake news from CNN.

President Trump, in his own inimitable and brilliant way, rope-a-doped his attackers dying to see his tax returns so that they could go after him endlessly during the campaign, until he achieved his goal of the Presidency. He has that now, his attackers no longer can use his tax returns as a weapon; the President under law, was never required to release his tax returns, he was required to file a financial disclosure document, and that he did. That’s it, end of subject.
Take that, you vicious jackals in the MSM along with your masters, the Dems. You have lost on all fronts, and will continue to do so. We have a President who will fight you all back tooth and tong, any time you lie, delude, commit the sin of omission, twist words, using all of your usual underhanded techniques, and he will attack you every time you try to do it. The media foments all their programmed sheeple into a froth over nothing, then puts them up as exhibit A in their desire to mold the narrative. Their sheeple are like mindless putty in their hands. Wouldn’t it be nice if their brains actually activated.
I think that Dingy Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, dirty Feinstein and the other dirty dems should release their tax returns to show how they all became multiple millionaires on salaries of $147,000 per year....
