I was there on the day when the Tea Party did their big ‘show’. I can remember a dozen-odd folks riding around with golf-carts and continually picking up trash and ensuring the grounds stayed neat. By 6PM when I walked off from the Lincoln Memorial area....there just wasn’t any trash on the street.
A lot of recyclable materials left in heaps. They couldn’t get those signs back into their Priuses?

They started our as a trash heap of insanity and ended up the same on the streets. This is the real garbage in America.
I wonder why these groups are not charged for the cleanup?
Who got the permits? Send them a bill and if they don’t pay it put a tax lien on them or something.
And yet these same angry feminists will cry about the environment they they cause a huge carbon footprint with all the trash they left. Why doesn’t the media call out this hypocrisy?

9/12/2009 we had a bigger crowd and we left the place cleaner than we found it.
I also wonder about the background and occupations of those attending. My guess is that they are mostly teachers or government employees. I would love to know the breakdown.
I would also be very interested in how many received financial incentives; I would wager more than half.
I do observe that this "march" was more than highly organized, with posters appearing nearly everywhere around my town for long in advance; and organizers taking every e-mail opportunity to fuel the mass paranoia and hysteria.
Oh, and the pink (you-know-what) hats made a statement, but it's not what they had in mind.
