STARK INEQUALITY: OXFAM SAYS 8 MEN AS RICH AS HALF THE WORLD

DAVOS, Switzerland (AP) -- The gap between the super-rich and the poorest half of the global population is starker than previously thought, with just eight men, from Bill Gates to Michael Bloomberg, owning as much wealth as 3.6 billion people, according to an analysis by Oxfam released Monday.

Presenting its findings on the dawn of the annual gathering of the global political and business elites in the Swiss ski resort of Davos, anti-poverty organization Oxfam says the gap between the very rich and poor is far greater than just a year ago. It's urging leaders to do more than pay lip-service to the problem.

They earned it. I think it’s hysterical that most of them are flaming liberals.

They don’t need to pay more taxes, but they could do a lot of good if they would stop just throwing money at world problems. Go meet with The Donald and find out what they can do to help. Stop worrying about other countries until we get OUR country straightened out

Only if the bottom 3.6 billion is very poor - which is the fault of socialist regimes, not the eight rich men - scammers though some may be.

Yet nobody - from the Pope to NPR to the Dems - mentions them when ‘advocating’ for the poor.

Just spend untold time and money laying the guilt on those Americans already struggling.

Well, we have a Republican president now, so it’s time to cue up these types of stories again!

Oxfam gets one hell of a lot of money from taxpayers. They’re not a charity - they are a crypto-marxist NGO.

I am sure there is good and bad to this. So long as these 8 are not above the law, who cares? Cheers to their success, too bad for me that (1) I hadn’t met one of their daughters when I was younger and (2) That I have not been as successful.

Such huge inequality is governments’ business only if results from theft or government decree. These sources of inequality can happen, and have happened (feudalism, slavery, wartime confiscation, unduly broad patents, crony capitalism, etc.); but it’s a lot less frequent than today’s socialist envy mongers and vote buyers will admit.

Stark inequality: I can show you dozens of wealthy people I know personally who have each contributed many thousands as much each year as democrat parasites contribute in their lifetimes.

"They earned it.

That was my thought when I saw the list. I didn't see anybody listed whose fortune came from inherited wealth Though some came from wealthy and well-off families, the large fortune came from them working and innovating.

These U.S. bazilyanaires are all flaming Liberals who whine that they want OUR tax money to help The Poor. We’re all tapped out from their generosity. It’s time they divest of their billions before they come whining to us to vote for more help for the coddled Poor.

That’s not FAIR... we should take their money and give it to everyone else.

That’ll teach ‘em

How dare they make goods an services everyone wants! I am certain they’ll think twice before ever doing that again.

Somewhere between 10 and 20% of American households have negative net worth. If you have a net worth of $1 you’re ahead of them. If you have a net worth of $82K you’re in the top half. If your house is worth $250,000 and you owe $100,000, you’re doing better than 60% of the country. https://dqydj.com/net-worth-in-the-united-states-zooming-in-on-the-top-centiles/

My grandpa taught me to never look to see how much someone else has except to see if he has enough and you need to share.

The poor in the USA are fat and watching TV. They could have more if they so chose.

Ergo this is stupid.

I knew a guy who would go on and on about how rich some people were. It made him furious. Whenever money came up all he could talk about was how unfair it was that some people made more in a day then he would likely see in his lifetime. (He had a relatively well paying job by the way. Better than mine at the time.)

That was about the time I realized that I just didn’t care what other people made. All I care about is — do I have the money I need to do what I want? So the guy who lives across town is rich. So what? That doesn’t affect me. He has a bunch of wealth? Good for him. I’m not gonna sit around grumble about it. Am I supposed to wish someone (the Government) would take his money away? What good would that do me? Oh, I see. I’m supposed to hope the Government steals his “extra” money and gives me a piece of it. I guess not agreeing with that idea explains why I’m not a Socialist.

Yes, but don’t you know that they gained their wealth by being highwaymen in these very poor countries? For example, the Haitians would all be rich if these guys had not waylaid them to steal their gold.
